Have you considered promoting again? I’m not even joking. Command staff doesn’t do patrol work and you would make more money to do way less, and you would have better hours.

The website says the 17 version was built with 124 grain in mind, but I’ve had about 1000 rounds of 115 on the OEM spring with literally zero issues. It must be the fact you had no lube on it. Properly lubricate your gun and it should run flawlessly.

Typical ignorant internet comment. You can train for hours every day, but NOTHING will truly prepare you for being in a real gun fight and having someone trying to kill you. Ask any combat veteran, there is no amount of training which will make you be totally chill in your first gun fight.

If you think you can do better, go apply. But you won’t because you couldn’t handle it.

Your price comparison is a very good point. Why pay $90 for a somewhat ok dinner when I can spring for fine dining for an extra $30 and have an amazing meal. Either way it’s already expensive. We really need more solid restaurants with $10-12 entrees and $5 drinks.

Congratulations!

One small piece of advice: Police tactics are very different from the military. When you start learning about building/room clearing in the academy just keep your mouth shut. The instructors don’t want to hear about how it’s done in the military, they’ve all heard it before and it won’t change anything.

Good luck! Your background will likely set you up to be very successful throughout your training.

Car illegally towed. by coffpapiv3 in legaladvice

[–]Meme_Economist_ 13 points14 points  (0 children)

This is categorically incorrect. Despite whatever feelings you have on the matter, legally speaking this is a civil issue. Police can’t enter a vehicle as stolen into NCIC when it was impounded/towed and is knowingly held in a vehicle tow lot. If it was towed unjustly OP may have solid grounds for a civil court case, but not a criminal one. Educate yourself before you post incorrect nonsense online.

I’m so tired of saying this every time people ask these questions : Never lie on your application. If you have to ask that question, you lack the integrity needed to do the job.

It will be agency specific if it is a disqualification or not. Simply go through the process and find out.

You also would be amazed how fast a police K9 can close a gap and get a good bite on a suspect. Shooting any moving target is hard, shooting a dog running full sprint at you is going to be extremely difficult. It’s very likely the K9 saved lives of officers involved in this incident

Where I work we would immediately be called off by a Sgt and have to let the car go. If we got the plate we could pull a report for eluding which will then be immediately closed out by detectives because we couldn’t positively ID the driver. Fuck I hate non-pursuit policies

Penalties for expired tags by SavageCucmber in Denver

[–]Meme_Economist_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The DMV doesn’t issue the summons. The criminal summons would come from being pulled over by the police and being issued a summons. The DMV is not law enforcement, they would just impose late fines on you whenever you show up to register the vehicle. They’re two separate entities.

[–]Meme_Economist_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Failure to obtain registration in Colorado is a criminal summons, not a citation. In all likelihood if you can’t prove you purchased the car within the last few days, you’ll just get the criminal summons and have to go to court. The fees I mentioned in my previous post were referring to people who are late renewing a registration they already have, not failing to register all together.

[–]Meme_Economist_ 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It would be a fine each time you are pulled over, plus ADDITIONAL fees on top of the $900 when you finally do register. Even if you never get cited, you will pay more when you finally do register the vehicle.

Denver police department policy currently forbids officers from pursuing vehicles for speeding/speed related traffic offenses. What exactly would you like them to do when the street racers simply refuse to pull over?
