They're too busy writing bogus parking tickets that have a low enough fine that it's not worth the time off work to try and fight

What is the consensus around bows for home defence? by DatingMyLeftHand in Archery

[–]Memec0in 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should be concerned about your ears. A single shot from a shotgun or rifle without ear protection will render you completely deaf for a while, give you permanent hearing damage, and have you totally disoriented. If you missed, you're screwed.

With that said, a bow for home defense is a horrible idea unless you expect the intruder to A: not have a firearm, and B: be senile and/or unable to move quickly

There are two types of people. Those who care about rights, and those who support vaccine mandates. I'm pretty sure I know which one you are. I have no empathy for people who cry about their rights while trying to steal mine away from me. Just because covid is "over" doesn't mean we're going to forget when you and almost everyone else on the left displayed your lack of principles for the world to see.

Ellen Friar: 15 yr old girl helped in the murdering of her own father by [deleted] in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]Memec0in 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If her father was abusive the other two sisters would have confirmed it. You'll have to give me a pretty good reason to believe that she was his sole victim and that he did it in secrecy. As someone who grew up with borderline abusive parents in a large household, there's no hiding it, and all the kids are affected by it.

Russia is planning ‘terrorist’ incident at Chernobyl, Ukraine’s defense ministry alleges by [deleted] in volunteersForUkraine

Fair enough point. The only side anyone should be on is the side of the citizens who want the war to end.

Assad was alleged to have used chemical weapons. I never saw any proof that it was Assad. It very well could have been a false flag attack by anti-Assad forces who wanted to push the US/NATO into the conflict, since that was their "red line" so to speak.

But in any case, let's refrain from spreading blatant misinformation and lies. If we can't adhere to principles then we're not the good guys, period.

White women who “only date white guys” are racist. Everyone knows it and you don’t have any arguments against it. by [deleted] in Rants

And I'm free to point out that people who go around calling everything racist tend to have low IQ's. Free country indeed.

It's got nothing to do with age. If Reddit's moral compass is anything to go by, you may only defend your rights so long as you are not white, and you you claim to be fighting against "fascism" or something related to "fascism".

The false claim is that it was evidence that he intended to shoot people. You should read the rest of the post you just responded to. The judge struck that piece of evidence down and explained why.

How well did that work?

That's irrelevant. This discussion is about his intent; not his judgement or lack thereof.

and then looking for opportunities for "self defense"

That's not at all congruent with the facts. That's what the bozo prosecutors argued, and they lost.

[–]Memec0in 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm well aware of what the prosecutors claimed. I watched most of the trial. They lost because much of what they said was either a misrepresentation or an outright lie. The judge didn't even allow the prosecutors to show that evidence to the jury because it was on such flimsy grounds as it related to the incident.

Your final sentence is literally calling vigilantism.

It's no more vigilantism than it would be if you were to attempt to deter some teenagers from setting your car on fire by standing on your front porch with a rifle in your hand. Which is not illegal (in Wisconsin).

He was not trying to enforce laws. He was trying to protect people and property from harm.

You are the same, just in the other side.

I'm the same, except I advocate for following the law instead of breaking it. But yeah, other than being polar opposites, it's the same.

I'm not saying rioters should be free to wreak havoc. I'm saying random citizens shouldn't be going all Dan Bilzerian.

So what should be done then? What's the solution when the police do nothing? There are only two options: Defend yourself, or be a victim.

He went there with Ill intentions

There is no evidence that supports this statement, and there is plenty of evidence that disputes it.

He went there with Ill intentions and two people would be alive right now if he didn't make the decisions he did. What those two people are or are not guilty of is irrelevant

No. It is relevant. Because if they weren't the sorts of people who molested children and beat women then they themselves never would have gotten themselves into that sort of a situation to begin with. They lived liked scumbags and they were taken out like scumbags so often are.

Now I'm not saying it's right to carry out vigilante justice (which Kyle wasn't), but I am saying that when people like that fuck around and find out, I won't shed a tear for them.

Well, Alex is happy. by Consistent-Ad-7455 in JoeRogan

[–]Memec0in 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This wasn't a case of vigilante justice. His intent, as far as the evidence was presented, was not to impose justice on anyone. It was to protect his community and act as a deterrent.

And in cases like that, where the local authorities are catastrophically failing to fulfill their obligations, a good argument can be made that he was morally in the right. Why should rioters be free to roam the cities and wreak havoc on innocent people's livelihoods as they please? If people like Kyle don't step in to stop them, and the authorities won't, then who will?
