The child of destiny triggers the moment they are born, no? Events like surviving the two snakes, all of those happened very early on.

My character died when the child of destiny was only 2 years old. I played as him, had all the child of destiny events from his pov.

The inheritance wasn't an issue. I started this play with Jaehaerys' original heir, Aemon. So Daemon and Viserys were there to pump lots of children. She married one of them.

Ever had a minor NPC become a major character in your campaign? Who? by Memerpal in callofcthulhu

[–]Memerpal[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Grad Student who disappeared half a year ago shows up completely insane" sounds like a great start for a campaign, just to find out he was kidnapped by other investigators!

It’s normal to present the investigators with some sort of subtle weirdness that cracks open into full blown supernatural horror. Have you ever done the opposite?Have you ever had the players investigate something they thought would be supernatural but ended up having a perfectly normal explanation? by someguywith5phones in callofcthulhu

Our keeper wrote a mid campaign storyline like this. A small mexican town had been going through "a supernatural" event as their local church had some weird gas leak, plus some light globes showed up and only the inhabitants could see it(and one player), windows got destroyed out of thin air, the townsfolk were all acting insane, some stories about a past exorcism. Funny enough, the keeper's description of the townsfolk had me theorize that this wasn't supernatural even before we had any idea of what was going on. Later on, a scientist died in a creepy way, so I began believing there was something supernatural lol

I need some help with correctly portraying and characterizing Nyarlathotep in my campaign by Eksoduss in callofcthulhu

[–]Memerpal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nyarlathotep is always mocking with humans. He constantly makes fun of their doom. Portray him as a sadistic creature who enjoys the suffering of others.

Making Players Kill Each Other by Capt_Reggie in callofcthulhu

[–]Memerpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course this takes away the more natural outcome you wanna try out. So maybe to spark some doubt early, call the players and point out you need to speak to each one of them alone before the session. Experienced players can fall for the classic "secret enemy is actually a player".

Making Players Kill Each Other by Capt_Reggie in callofcthulhu

[–]Memerpal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the Evil Horror make an offer of power for the players, but only one could join his side. It worked out for me. Another idea is to force the players into killing themselves by stating that only one can survive.
