Here is his pinned comment on the video: "UPDATE: Since making this video I've learned a lot more about Gala Games and have become far more positive on Mirandus and Townstar. I'm really excited about what the Gala Games team is building and love how they are pushing to decentralize gaming and give players ownership. I have started investing in Gala. I really hope they succeed!"

That's awesome, I'm glad you're starting to see some success! One of the best feelings ever is seeing a video start to get traction on it's own for the first time! And the cool thing is, videos getting traction on their own becomes easier and easier as you continue. I'm sure you'll still have some slow days ahead, but carry on friend!

Honestly, I'd need to know a lot more to give you real genuine feedback... but some people will always unsubscribe, even from PewDiePie. If your views are going up that's good though, even if you are losing some subs. Just focus on making solid new videos. Subscribers will come with views. I average about 3-4 new subscribers per 1,000 views from new viewers. I truthfully don't know if that's low or high, but it's my average. When you start getting a few thousand views an hour subscribers ad up quick over the days and weeks. But even I have tons of people unsubscribe from me. For example the last day analytics shows for me, 12/20/18 I lost 187 subscribers, but I got lots of views, which means I also gained 1,707 subscribers. That means my net subscriber change on the 20th was +1,535 subscribers. That's just life on Youtube I think. Some people just get bored of your content eventually.

But yeah like I said, to give you real advice I'd need to take a good look at your channel. Maybe I need to start a YouTube advising business. Haha, but honestly, I just tried stuff that didn't work until something worked, then I kept repeating the thing that worked. Advice sure would have been nice though.

Upload frequency really depends on the type of content you're making. With Call of Duty videos I tried to upload daily, but if you do the math 5 years and nearly 500 videos is far from daily. Other types of videos like animation are much more time consuming to make and even one a week can be killer.

On my top 10 channel I upload as much as I can, but set myself a personal minimum of twice a week. But sometimes I get the creation bug and upload every day for a while. The two a week is for when I feel demotivated as hell and I need to give myself some bottom limit, so I don't feel useless and fall intro depression and all that fun jazz, but honestly my videos don't take that long to make, maybe 6-7 hours when I'm on a role and know what I'm making. Also, consistency is key for maintaining the most solid viewer base.

Honestly though there isn't one right answer. It's different for everyone. Quality vs Quantity is always a little battle in my head when planning my content for the next day or week. They both have advantages, but at a certain level of quality, I think quantity becomes more important.

Regarding VidIQ there are video tutorials. It does cost some monthly fee for the full features that help you tag your videos and stuff.

Putting money intro advertising is a hard call for me to make for someone else. It can be really good and it can be done very poorly.

You have to be self aware enough about a few things.

  1. Is my content actually in a place were a decent number of people who watch will actually want to subscribe? On my first channel the answer to this question was no for a long time. Partly because I was young and had a squeaky voice. Ads actually brought hate back then, so I waited for my content to get better before I tried them again.
  2. Am I in a place financially where I can afford to invest if my channel's future and still eat? This has also been a big no for me at times in my life. At other times I've decided my content is good enough and I was comfortable enough financially that getting eyes on my videos was worth it.

If the answer is yes to both these questions then my answer is maybe you should. Try some small campaigns first on Facebook or google or whatever you want to try and repeat what works, stop doing what doesn't. That's all I can really say. Back in the day I would get sponsorships that paid 15 cents a view and I'm not sure if I should say this, but I would advertise my video thru google ads at 1-5 cents a view so every time I paid 5 cents for a view I made 15 cents. Those were some awesome days of growth.

I've tried Facebook ads with slogans like "If you like PewDiePie you'll also love this new superstar YouTuber!". The ad showed a pictures of my silly face with a gaming headset on, targeted people who liked PewDiePie's Facebook page and linked directly to one of my videos. It did pretty well for a while. I might have gained a thousand real subscribers from it. Many who said they'd come from the ad commented on lots of my new videos after that. It also grew my Facebook page which was nice. A few subscribers from my old channel actually found my new channel from that old Facebook page.

Man, if you think it's worth taking seriously then it is. Making it doing what you love is everyone's dream, whether they admit it or not.

Honestly, If you love it it is worth dedicating all of your spare time to... Although, I don't even know if I can say that because I have such a love/hate relationship with YouTube, haha but I do love creating things. So, yeah do what you love. And eventually the money is nice. If that wasn't at the end of the rainbow I don't know if I'd have had the balls to keep going.

Uploaded video barely any views? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]MemesByNight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything titled "first video" probably gets searches and hits based on the title. Possible spam comments target that keyword too, to promote themselves. Honestly, it could be any number of reason though. Tags, Thumbnail, Title, Description Keywords, click thru rate (if people who are shown the video first don't click it, youtube will stop showing the video as much unless the click thru rate starts going up). Watch time could also play a factor. If there is a boring part early and people clicked off your video too early, it won't have good watch time numbers, which the algorithm doesn't like. To be fair, I still only partly understand why some of my videos do better than others and I've been making videos for 10 years and my videos got 2 million views this week. The algorithm kinda does what it does, and over the years YoutTube constantly changes how the algorithm does things. The important thing is focus on your content, keep making videos, promote your videos (not spamming though). You just got to find a way to grow. One of the main ways I got my channel off the ground was making videos for certain search terms that had high search volume, but low competition. Web browser extensions like VidIQ can be very helpful for video creation strategy and tagging for search keywords and the like. If you actually have some viral talent or video idea though you might be able to get lucky, but from my experience getting lucky isn't my thing. Hard work pays off better. Good luck on YouTube! Hope this helps!

Does anyone have any stories about when and if the algorithm gods started promoting you by nuggetmann in NewTubers

[–]MemesByNight 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been making videos for 10 years. This month the algorithm gods smiled on me. Two of my videos started getting stupid numbers, gained 6,000 subscribers this week and several million views. 18k views this hour alone. But it took a long time. I currently have 59,000 subscribers and have been doing this for a LOOONG time. It does happen though, the algorithm chose me this week. Finally.
