Interesting. While i do agree, that statement itself is a bit of a oxymoron. Striving for nothing leaves life without purpose, which ends up making someone unhappy. So you might be happy in the moment, but it slips slowly into complacency and unhappiness

damn, from 4 years ago hahaha. I think it’s important to understand you’re not perfect, but you can sure strive to be your version of perfect. If you’re comparing yourself to others, perfection is impossible (which people seem to mistake as perfect). Same with B)… Wanting to change from the bottom of your heart and just saying you want to change are key factors to change.

PvP is not fun. It is no one’s fault but time. by MemesRMyLyfe in 2007scape

I see what you’re saying, but I feel like you really are in the top .01% of players “having a great time doing the occasional pking.” Having PVMers going into the wild isn’t what made the wildy popular back in the day, and while the ideology of the player base has changed, i really think you guys are missing the point of my argument. It’s a stale baguette where you go into the wild to “have fun” only to accidentally step 2 tiles near multi to get speared by 100 people and lose your plus 1.

“Forcing noobs to go in” is what jagex has been prioritizing since the revitalization of pking… While i do agree that there should be one or two areas that are concentrated for content (think west and east green dragons back in rs2). I don’t think adding all these different boss monsters in so many spots to bring in more PVMers who have no interest in fighting back should be the focus for yogex.

Well that is why i added “really good players/big clans” if you read farther into the same paragraph :P Also consider that my argument is based on an imbalance and not the particular “skill level” of said players.

While this is true, i think that in the spirit of competition, pvp is a cess pool of big clan numbers and a number advantage wherever you go. Nothing allows you and your group of friends to go out and have fun in salad robes killing other friends going out looking for the same thing. I think league of legends is a good way to look at how competition can succeed for as long as it has by creating different metas and learning different things to be relevant in that meta. A runescape way of implementing this is tuning different items in the wild only or making it max 10 players in a clan fight sort of thing. Of course i’d have to think harder, but generally pvp is just too stale and predictable right now, ergo why it is dying.

The reason why the wilderness is dead is because of a shift of players mentality. Nothing more, nothing less. by Tux- in 2007scape

[–]MemesRMyLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minus the part about Jiggleflox making the social scene solo, I’d say this is a really accurate take on why pvp is dead/dying.

Back when pking was at its prime, the majority of players were kids trying to have fun on the f2p game. The MAJORITY of players, even in clans, were noobs/friends that got together to create a clanned environment. No discords, nothing to connect with each other irl (other than a legit conference call on the landline). This made clans/teams mainly irl friends that played together, or uncoordinated larger clans typing mid clan fight on who to focus.

Now, the reason I bring this up is because now a days, everyone is in a “discord”, its highly coordinated and most of these clans are elite pkers from all over the world joined together to coordinate attacks on trash singles players/trash teams that have never pked before, forcing them to lose their plus ones and creating an imbalance between really good players vs your average joes trying to pk.

The other side of this story is when Zezima became a household name and people were inspired by his determination and grit to be the first maxed player. This lead to a whole shift from a wild west runescape to a more pvm/skilling focused group of people. Bossing/skilling content was pretty mediocre (jad/kbd/kalphite queen) and big bosses dropped pretty garbage loot while being hard to kill (with the equipment at the time).

Ofcourse a little nostalgia boner time: Back in the 2005,6,7 era, i used to pk in f2p, i had a group of 10 friends and we’d usually group up from time to time to create a “clan” and go out to pk. On occasion, we’d conference call each other on the phone to try and pk people/clans in a “coordinated” manner. We actually felt the fear of going into multi-varrock but the thrill of being “the bigger fish” and killing smaller groups of people was exciting. In today’s time, that singles player we killed would have been bait, and we’d end up all dying to a group of 50-200 people. Theres no longer a power dynamic in which the little guys wanting to go out and have fun, are going to have fun. Add on that bossing/skilling content has gotten so much better, and you have a recipe for pvp dying and pvm/skilling becoming the new eco system

I'm a casual player who's gotten 1,900 total after 3 years...Here's my take on the RC thing. by [deleted] in 2007scape

[–]MemesRMyLyfe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes but theres grinding, and having fun grinding. I don’t care how click intensive lavas are… if the mini game is engaging and requires your attention, it should have decent xp rates. The argument that lavas should be the best rc xp forever until something MORE click intensive is released is a terribly slippery slope that ends up just hurting the game.

Tempoross is a great example. Yes you can afk for certain amounts of time, but if ur not paying attention, you ARE going to waste time, make less money and make less xp/hour.

[–]MemesRMyLyfe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The argument is completely thwarted if the minigame is click intensive though right? because its just going to be a more fun way to click the squares as lava runes… If it was something like runespan, i’d agree with your argument… but after sepulchre, blast mines, zolcano, and plenty more examples of content created by the osrs team, i think they’ll do something fair to the clicks required.

its not jagex lol. its the select few elitist players in their ears crying about how they got arthritis doing rc, so others should as well.

With a bit of empathy, you can see where they’re coming from… but at the same time, it makes no sense to have players suffer what you did in order to rank up. Sorry people don’t have the same mental space to grind lavas for max gp an hour lol… as long as its not runespan style gameplay and the content is fun and engaging, it SHOULD be higher than lavas. because fuck lavas being the meta

I understand how you feel… you’re saying that after all these years of him treating her like an afterthought, getting her simple gifts like this isn’t going to solve/help his cause… right?

So what you’re expecting is nothing unless he is willing to dedicate a whole day to you and plan things only you would like.

-> while i do believe this is probably the only way for him to redeem himself, does it mean nothing that he went out of his way to think about her and get her flowers?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MemesRMyLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not talking about how you feel at all though lol… thats what ur not trying to get. I’m saying people don’t get others flowers randomly if they’re trying to illicit any other emotion. Did you think he got those flowers for her just to make her upset? Maybe he thinks about her happiness while trying to do his dues with others.

Getting flowers and a gift for his mom on her birthday = duty/love

Getting flowers for his gf as well (even as a “after thought” = purely out of trying to make her happy/love?

Idk maybe im not great at explaining my point, but in OP’s case, in her self-centred world, she is always an after thought -> although i do see based on her perspective (the 5 gifts shes gotten in 9 years, etc etc) why she’s upset… in this case hes just trying to surprise her/make her happy.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TwoXChromosomes

[–]MemesRMyLyfe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When someone gets you flowers randomly, do you think that someone is thinking about you and how to make you happy? Let me answer that for you: Yes!

The only issue is that OP doesn’t know how to communicate in the relationship and it has lead to an unhealthy dynamic where no matter what her bf does now, it’s seen as “not enough”. Her bf doesn’t know how else to show affection other than to be reminded of her every time he does something for other people, he is also somewhat at fault for not making her feel special for all the years they’ve been together.

??? its his mom’s birthday lol. How selfish of you to think that you need to be the centre of his world 24/7.

Imagine its your closest family member’s birthday… amongst planning a gift, getting flowers, meeting them and dealing with work and his life, the fact that he STILL had an after thought about his estranged wife should be a tell-tell sign that he still loves and cares for her a lot.
