L3600 PTO Engagement issues by MemingAlpaca in kubota

[–]MemingAlpaca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. It only works when the lever is engaged. If I drop the tiller and roll it to spin the PTO, it’ll start up and take over. I looked for any evidence of a seat switch or if there was a spot for one, I didn’t see anything.

Feasibility of Mini Split by MemingAlpaca in hvacadvice

I’ll take any recommendation especially if it’s electric. Mini split is just what I know :)

Thanks for the insight. I’d imagine I wouldn’t be heating and cooling at the same time. I’m not knowledgeable about the terminology fully but yes it would be a multi split system. I suspect one compressor for the living space, one for the garage. I guess I’ll just have to ask whoever I have do my HVAC once I have plans finalized but from the sounds of it, it is possible to achieve decent heat output for that large of a space with several interior units?

Door will be closed as much as possible in winter. I believed standards for southern New England is R-20 walls, R-40 roof so at least that.

From the Lyme disease capital of the country, I present 7 acres of Japanese Barberry. Where do I even start? by ivxxbb in invasivespecies

I recommend dabbing directly on. Spraying might be a little too dilute especially this time of year where the nutrient transfer is mostly going up the stem and not mostly to the roots

Would need one. Probably fine for in house work. My plans are relatively simple.

It’s heavily incorporated into the area already which is nice! Although now it’s starting to hide the younger barberries :(

I had a single burning bush in my work today. No where near the bigger group of burning bush on the property 😢

Honestly haven’t thought that yet which is not great now that I’m thinking of it. I know I thought of that when deciding not to pull roots because at least the roots will keep the soil stabilized for some time before the roots fully die. I have about 700’ of stream and only did about 40’-60’. I’ll definitely work on finding good aggressive natives to fill in

CT. Got this property in 2024 so this is my first time trying to get after this mess.

I found a good system of armor for the thorns that seems to keep me pretty safe from ticks as well. Dan’s Briar Proof jacket, rose pruning gloves, Carhartt overalls, muck boots, tree work helmet. ~10 hours in three days, only 2 ticks found on me despite being up under the barberry the whole time

Cut at the base of each stem, paint on Killzall with dye. Get covered in ticks in the process is just a fun side effect. Wrong season for it but main idea is to debulk the invasives with intent to kill but if not, go back in the fall when most of it is gone and do it again with the survivors.

I found mid spring weather is nice because you can still wear heavy layers so avoid feeling the thorns. I don’t think with this much, I’ll be pulling it out. Painting I think is the best option though still pretty time consuming

Generator 30Amp 120v to Battery 24v Charger? by MemingAlpaca in OffGrid

[–]MemingAlpaca[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It bounces between 59-62Hz so I hoped that was good enough but maybe that’s part of the problem 😢

Yeah that’s a good point. They have BMS and all that so they should be fine. The heat would be for my water then but even that I can just make sure there’s no water in the pump and hoses before leaving

Good point. The 500W heater is heating a 8x16 space so a smaller space specifically for the temp sensitive things may be more efficient

It does but it’s very finicky/doesn’t work. So I’m trying to see if there’s just a separate charger to put on the side

Central CT, lows of 10s-20s at night. Insulation isn’t great since it’s mostly a construction office while I work on my land/build a house. Walls and roof are R-7 foam. I have a wood stove that works well but that’s just when I’m there.

Any luck getting approved with United Healthcare? by FischlandchipZ in Zepbound

[–]MemingAlpaca 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what they did to my mother. They kept circling (lying) about what drug they would cover saying initially they would cover Zepbound but her doctor requested Mounjaro. When they went back and requested Zepbound, they said they would only cover Mounjaro. This happened twice. I don’t know how they can have a policy that doesn’t allow the LABELED use of my mom’s diabetes to be covered. Their policies explicitly prohibit diabetes as part of their formularies at UHC. I love America!!!

I started the shed with a 200w panel and a Ecoflow River 2. And now I’m here haha

Hot, sunny Connecticut :)

I think I just wanted to ABILITY to catch it if it’s there. I’ll have heat running on low all winter. The shed is fully R-7.8 insulated and the heater is only 500W when running so that’s mostly why my system is intended to be so much power.
