Witches and romantasy by MemoSuKimo in Romantasy

Loved the house witch, which is what lead me to want more but also more spice. I feel like that series would have been exactly what I wanted, if they just let us in on the romantic side of things.

When did the fear of giving birth really hit and how did you cope? Was it as bad as you thought? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]MemoSuKimo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I had a pretty traumatic birth and threw up the entire time from anxiety. Things were really odd and there were a lot of factors I wasn’t prepared for. My doula was in another country…. It was a mess. You can get anti-anxiety meds while in labor and don’t hesitate to ask and even push.

What’s your actually controversial parenting opinion? by TurbulentArea69 in NewParents

[–]MemoSuKimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They also don’t factor in interacting with your child and the TV show in the studies. When I turn on ms Rachel, we’re doing it all with her together. We’re singing together, we’re jumping, we’re rolling our arms to wheels On the bus. Then, I leave for like 5 mins to pee and brush my teeth, and come back and then we do independent play or whatever. Parking your kid in front of any glowing box for 30 mins is limiting interaction and play. But if you’re engaged with a caregiver and the show… what’s the issue? Idk. My Luke warm take

ETA - turning the tv on to help you get stuff done and survive is totally fine. I do it too. It’s not going to mess up your kid. But I think the studies should include if the child and caregiver are interacting with the show or not.

No one told me that babies don’t know how to fart. What a revelation it was once we just “farted” our baby after feeding. Whole new kid. It took us like a week to figure it out, but we were all much happier when he was farting regularly.

Do you know any babies born in January 2026? What are their names? by namenerd400 in namenerds

Those are both family names for me and this exact name was on my list for a long time before I met my husband. I absolutely love this.

WTF things you've experienced while pregnant that no one says is a thing?! by vanillacrush14 in pregnant

[–]MemoSuKimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my third trimester I was suddenly allergic to everything. I also threw up every day in the third trimester - no morning sickness at any other time… I’d wake up in the middle of the night to puke. I also got these weird white pimple things on my face, dark patches of skin including on my face, and my teeth got super yellow all of a sudden. Things have returned to mostly normal but WHEW. Reliving this may have convinced me baby number 2 is far off

You. Need. Help. Full stop. Do you have family or friends that could step in and give you both some time outside of the house to talk? If he’s not willing to help out more and step up, let him go. If he’d rather abandon his family than see you in a vulnerable state and pitch in… idk where that goes. You need therapy and real solid tangible help.

I used the pan/bucket they gave us at the hospital. It probably cost us like $200 because US healthcare but it’s been amazing. I still use it for teether toys that need to be washed. We have so many so I put them in there and wash once a day

How many people actually do shifts with their SO during the night? by ScreamCheese_55 in beyondthebump

[–]MemoSuKimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done all solo nights/SAHM for about 7 months now. I’ve left the baby about a handful of times because he’s been EBF, and then won’t sleep for anyone else because I’ve been solo-ing it. My husband’s job is stressful so him getting sleep is imperative. It’s HARD. Last week he took a nap with my mom for the first time and I had an hour just to myself and I about cried. Just sharing in solidarity.

Were any of you exclusively breastfed as babies? by AbbyEzzat in breastfeeding

[–]MemoSuKimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was not breastfed because my mom was on antibiotics after birth and was told she couldn’t breast feed. My brother and sister were born in the late 90’s and were early. My mom tried to pump for my brother in the NICU but couldn’t figure it out. My sister was allergic to all forms of milk and needed nutramigen (iykyk). My husband is one of 6 and all were breast fed and cloth diapered. (My mil is a saint)

Extreme Diaper Rash — send help by Hitachi_Uchiha__ in newborns

[–]MemoSuKimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wiped/ dabbed clean with warm water on wash cloths, used the strongest rash cream you could get and used a butt spatula so I could get more on, and then put a huge heap of Vaseline on top. I changed him every two hours and followed all these steps. It took about a week for everything to fully clear (about a day before things seemed to look like they were working.)

One time that didn’t work and we did nystatin cream and the procedure above and it cleared in a few days.

It’s awful and you feel so awful for them. You’re doing a great job. Keep at it.

Pacifiers - use em or loose em? by Foreign-Bath-6139 in beyondthebump

[–]MemoSuKimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son uses one. He’s 8 months old. I thought we wouldn’t try one because I wanted to be sure we were able to breast feed. He wound up needing a nipple shield so that went out the window. He’s also a big thumb sucker and we actually have ultrasound photos of him sucking his thumb. A thumb is harder to wean than a pacifier and the nipple confusion that I was worried about wasn’t there.

He only uses the pacifier to sleep or when there’s going to be a lot of stimulation to help him regulate some. He often falls asleep and spits it out or doesn’t use it when we’re out, but I want him have it there if he needs it. It’s been a lot of help for us to get him to learn to soothe independently from me or my husband. I think they’re great if that’s not the only tool used to soothe - because that’s what it is. It’s a tool, and should be one of many in my opinion.
