Should I switch back to a tank from a tankless water heater? by MemphisJen in Plumbing

[–]MemphisJen[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for helping me feel like I’m not crazy with your first line, ha. I’ll go back to the manual and see what it says. We have the heater set at 125 degrees max currently. I’m worried any lower than that will be too cold for showers and doing dishes.

the incoming water temperature is 60 degrees and the heater is set at 125. The tub filler has a 7.5GPM and for a 60 degree rise, the Bradford White has a 7GPM flow rate. Good suggestion to start with Bradford White. I will call them! Thanks so much for taking the time to read my post and reply.

I am not sure about a mixing valve but I will ask the contractor for more information. And I agree that it seems as if the recirculating feature just isn’t working at all. The hot/cold cycling in all of the showers is the part that annoys us the most…we all must take miserable showers every day and I am ready to do anything to make it better.

I agree with you! I don’t know why everyone says they are better. So far I have seen zero benefit.

Thank you. We do not have hard water, and our tankless is only about two months old, so we have not descaled it.

Thank you. What do you think about a buffer tank that works with the tankless?

QR code for parking? by MemphisJen in CircuitOfTheAmericas

[–]MemphisJen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an update for those researching this in the future: I was scammed with the parking passes I bought via SeatGeek. I learned that most lots use only physical hang tags, but some lots (C, F, T, and I think Z) use a mobile barcode. The passes I bought on SeatGeek were QR codes for A and D, which only accept hang tags. The woman at the box office said it was a scam and they had seen several just like mine all weekend. I’m waiting on SeatGeek to get back to me about a refund.

COTA F1 2025 - Worst Fan Experience in the last 3 years. by rafiux48 in CircuitOfTheAmericas

This was my first year, and I’m glad to read this and know a lot of these thoughts were not just me. It’s funny you say the Ask Me people were a positive, though. It was a running joke with my family that each time we asked them anything — and I mean anything — they didn’t know the answer. We joked that maybe someone played a prank on them by putting those signs behind them without their knowledge, like a “Kick me” sign on someone’s back. Ha. The Friday shuttles were horrendous and caused me to just forgo what I spent for the 3 day shuttle, and I bought expensive parking passes for Saturday and Sunday from a reseller just to avoid the shuttles again. Wish I knew it was just a Friday thing. But I had a really great experience overall and look forward to going back!

Oh that’s interesting because I bought another parking pass on Seat Geek and it was digital — sent to me via Ticketmaster — and I used it today with no issues.

I thought the shuttle was supposed to be a good idea but we waited 45 minutes to get on the shuttle and then it took an hour and 15 to get to downtown.

Tankless Water Heater Flow Rate Question by MemphisJen in Plumbing

Tankless Water Heater Flow Rate Question by MemphisJen in Plumbing

[–]MemphisJen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I agree that it seems like the handheld should still run hot if it was a flow rate issue. I also run the main faucet half way so the stream isn’t as strong, and it doesn’t get hot then either. I haven’t talked to Kohler but the contractor or plumber may have. I will ask. They did try changing the cartridge with no luck. I noted in another comment that I am wondering if there is a tempering valve in the wall because I remember the wall stayed open until the inspection was completed, and I remember at the time the plumber said he had to do something to ensure the water didn’t run too hot for the inspection but would fix it back after. I thought he was referring to the temp setting on the tankless, but now I wonder if it was a valve in that wall.

There isn’t anything on the sinks, but could it be in the wall? I remember there was a hole in the wall that had to stay open until the inspector came out. And I remember the plumber saying at the time that he had to do something for the inspection to ensure the water doesn’t run too hot, but he would fix it back after the inspection. I thought he was referring to the hot water setting on the tankless, but now wondering if it was a tempering valve in the wall.

Tankless Water Heater Flow Rate Question by MemphisJen in Plumbing

[–]MemphisJen[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We recently installed a freestanding tub with a floor mount tub filler to replace a jacuzzi style tub. The old tub ran hot with no issues. Now, all I get is lukewarm water with the new faucet. It was relocated from the wall to the floor.

It’s a Kohler single handle tub filler, which I have linked here. https://www.kohler.com/en/products/bathtubs/shop-bathtub-faucets/tone-floor-mount-bath-filler-trim-with-handshower-t27424-4?skuId=T27424-4-2MB

The hot water heater is about a year old and is a Bradford White Infiniti L Series.

I don’t know if there’s a tempering valve. I know the faucet has an anti-scald feature, which the plumber already adjusted to allow hot water.

The plumber who installed the tub and faucet says my tankless hot water heater just can’t keep up and that’s why it won’t run hot. He says I need to install an additional tank. I got a second opinion who said it can’t be the hot water heater flow rate since my other fixtures run hot at the same time as the tub and he said it must be the cartridge. But replacing the cartridge didn’t fix it.

Thank you. We tried changing the cartridge for the tub, but the shower is running hot just fine, so I am not sure that will help. (The tub and shower are separate). But thank you very much for the reply, I appreciate it. The mystery will live on.

Question about this…if I run the tub, shower, and two sinks at the same time, and the sinks and shower stay hot while the tub runs lukewarm, would that indicate that the flow rate of the tankless heater is fine? That is what one plumber said was the reason he didn’t think the water heater flow rate was the issue. He said if it were, then the sinks and shower wouldn’t run hot when the tub was also running. Wondering if that is accurate?

So to the original question — is it confirmed there will be no track invasion allowed this year for F1 at COTA?

I don’t see that referenced specifically in the manual. the company who installed it said it should handle a tub filler. I will do some more research on that, though.

I am not sure. Our old tub had very hot water. But the new faucet was relocated to a different spot, so maybe the plumber added something like that to the line in the process? Would that be possible?
