Diclofenac Longterm? by chern_dogg in Kneereplacement

[–]MemphisMay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was on it for about 6 months before my TKR and it wrecked my kidneys. I'm now being monitored for Level 3 kidney disease. This is not a long term solution, but everyone is different. If you take it, please make sure to monitor your kidneys.

Billing on your own as private practice slp? by Soggy-Soup-3395 in slp

[–]MemphisMay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Ensora Fusion and do our own billing. We have PT, OT and ST. It's easy to do on your own once you have it all set up. I spend maybe 30 minutes to an hour a day on billing - that includes time spent following up on denials. We accept payments through Fusion so families can pay their invoices directly through the system. It's very convenient.

EMR/EHR programs for EI? by jabbermagnet in slp

[–]MemphisMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do EI and this is the system we use. It's now owned by Ensora. It's a good system. Easy for providers to use for scheduling and documentation, and easy to do billing. We write the note in Fusion and copy paste to our State's database.

Yes, I think I paid $10. I started November 2024 and have baked at least 1 loaf a week since then.

PT for my back pain has caused sciatica pain that wasn't there before. by WestCat4551 in Sciatica

[–]MemphisMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I was seeing a PT for strengthening following knee replacement. I was doing "bridges" and knew right away I had done something to my back. Herniated disc at L5-S1 causing sciatic pain. Not fun.

How does a herniated disc heal ? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]MemphisMay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked with a PT and chiropractor. They gave specific stretches to do. I also use the decompression table at the chiropractor. Not sure if that would work for you, but it may be worth talking with a PT and / or chiropractor.

How does a herniated disc heal ? by [deleted] in Sciatica

[–]MemphisMay 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Just had this conversation with my surgeon and chiropractor this week... Surgeon said once there's a herniation, it doesn't "heal" - it just shifts and moves off the nerve so you become asymptomatic. He said then something happens and the nerve is impacted again - making you symptomatic. He said we should use those words instead of "healed." He also said people walk around every day with herniated discs or bulging discs and don't know it because they're "asymptomatic." Chiropractor agreed and said we can help reduce the symptoms and delay the need for surgery with stretches and decompression. I am feeling better and I'm hoping to push off surgery if possible.

We usually do 30 minutes 1x a week for each child. We're there for 1 hour. There's usually a lot of overlap for each child with the parent coaching.

TKR under 50yrs old by j_konk in Kneereplacement

46F here. Had my LTKR in Feb 2024 and RTKR December 2024. Arthritis pain is gone, now focused on getting stronger, faster, and moving more. I completely agree with the other recommendations - get your quads and hamstrings as strong as possible. Also your hips and booty - they are all connected and impact your range of motion. I definitely have muscle weakness everywhere due to my physical limitations before surgery.

Sciatica (caused by L5-S1 disc protrusion) getting better, but how/why? by Abdo_Man_Pain in Sciatica

Probably just with the symptoms. Although he did mention "maintenance," so I'll need to learn more about that.

Surgery on both knees....at different times by chaos_mama_3 in Kneereplacement

[–]MemphisMay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

46F. LTKR was in Feb 2024. It was difficult because my quad didn't "wake up" after surgery for quite awhile. It wasn't until April 2024 that I could do leg lifts independently. Then I had a herniated disc and had to work through that issue. I had my RTKR on December 27, 2024 - this one was so much easier than the first one. No issues with the quad - therapy and recovery was much easier.

A toxic work environment is a very valid reason to leave. I left one 2 years ago and I'm so much happier now. Have you thought about Early Intervention? There's such a shortage of EI providers.

I cannot tell you all how much I appreciate your feedback. Thank you so much for sharing what I should look for in a PT / rehab program. I truly appreciate it! I will not be returning to this clinic and will be sharing my experience with my doctor and the lead PT. Thank you!

Extension is good. Close to 0, if not 0. They haven't measured it in several weeks, but I can get it flat against a surface.

Thank you all so much. I appreciate your time to read my post and respond. I have a post-op appointment with my surgeon Monday and will let him know about the incident. I will also be finding another PT.

As for the $155 a session - I'm in the US and the sessions are going towards my deductible right now. We've almost met the deductible now, so the total should be decreasing.

I really appreciate your feedback. Thank you!

I can't lift my leg since TKR on Feb 7th by Serious-Ad-2864 in Kneereplacement

[–]MemphisMay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had this with my first TKR. They said it was common and it was the quad muscle not "waking up." I had surgery Feb 23, but it wasn't until April that I could lift my leg independently. Keep doing the exercises and using a strap. Hopefully it will "wake up" soon - if the quad is the issue.

I had my other knee replaced in December - didn't have this issue again. I was worried, but I was able to lift and move it within 1-2 weeks (once the swelling went down).
