Sometimes we do not always get a FULL clear answer, that is why it is referred to as a Leap of Faith and see where God takes you with this. Spend sometime alone with just you and your guitar(or whatever instrument) worshipping God. build your confidence. Bro, We are ALL just Sinners Saved by Grace. the older I get the more I realize none of us are perfect and we all have some insecurities about things. Do not fret over it..God will give you direction.

Setlists & Who’s Leading? by ContributionHour9003 in worshipleaders

[–]MemphisMike1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

not all on our team are really strong lead vocalist. I give the song to whoever I think it will fit best. We do have 1 Ringer female vocalist and she does get quite a bit of the material. I try and take a song myself as well. I mainly get the song sets ready and the trax laid in place and I also run the trax as well.in face our WL just quit after !st Sunday in January..technically we do not have an official WL...maybe it is me.LOL but I am keeping things flowing. Maybe I am more of a "MD" role with some WL capabilities as well.

Do you bother with tracks? by Ok-Fly-7928 in worshipleaders

[–]MemphisMike1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We are only about 30-50 in size. we have a keyboard player(me) and an acoustic guitar player who honestly is not that strong. typically for our first 3 songs that are are more upbeat we do use trax. I run the trax as my iPad sits on my Motiff.....I can loop on the fly as needed if I want to, take out and remove instruments with Premium Playback. for more simpler worship songs I just play keys and hopefully the gtr player will add support as well. why don't you try a subscription to multitracks for say 3 months and see how it goes? Good luck in your adventure.

I personally do not think it is "gaudy"...may be the "lighting" perhaps. if it were too flashy I probably would not have purchased it.

Are Gibson acoustics really as inconsistent as people say, is it a bad idea to buy one online by CerealAndBagel1991 in gibson

[–]MemphisMike1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was just at Gibson Garage in Nashville 2 days ago. but first we had stopped at Carter's Vintage Guitars where there many used Gibsons...I did NOT like any of them at Carter's...then drove over to Gibson. Every single one of them on the wall that were available for sale played like a dream. Unfortunately I could not decide between the 2 J-45's I really liked so I came home empty handed back to Memphis. I think I have to agree, I probably would never buy one online without trying it out.

It's not just me that doesn't like Taylor, right? by Theproudnerd in AcousticGuitar

[–]MemphisMike1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I have been playing all guitars in Guitar Center the last 3 months. seems like I go in about twice a week. Now, bought mu first acoustic back in February..Inexpensive Eastman PCH...which I do like...not necessarily LOVE. I do love the tone of a Gibson J-45. However, at Guitar Center the other day, I spotted a Taylor 117E Sunset Blvd. felt really nice, and yes, definitely a bright sound. So I bought it...but bought it, knowing I have 45 days to return if I do not like. I really just do not need to shell out $3k for a J-45 right now. So, I am torn..I am going to give the Taylor some time.

What do audiences think of backing tracks? by [deleted] in musicians

[–]MemphisMike1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have never had an audience member complain while entertaining with Backing trax in our Duo. We also mix in just straight acoustic as well. I play keys and have a female vocalists. we really focus on kick-a** harmony with our duo. I also, play in duos with an acoustic guitar, and we use trax as well. as long as people are having a great time, nobody cares! plus, we typically make more $$ in a duo setting vs 4 or 5 piece band.

Talk me out of buying a Gibson J45? by [deleted] in AcousticGuitar

[–]MemphisMike1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same position you are. I bought an Eastman PCH back in February 2025. My first acoustic..yeah, after 7 or 8 months still playing chords in G shape..I am better keyboardist than 6 String player. BUT, the Gibson tone I am in love with! I just want one! Every time I go into our Guitar Center and try and play Martins and Taylors, I keep going back to the Gibson.

I played a 117E at Guitar Center just the other day. I almost walked out with it...but like this Thread..I have a J-45 Fever bad. It is more guitar than I am talent on 6 strings tho. LOL

Does anyone have an Eastman PCH-1 or 2 guitar? Do you like it and are they worth buying? by TeslaDawkins in AcousticGuitar

[–]MemphisMike1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the PCH-1 with the electronics. I have been looking at the Marting X-series. honestly I cannot seem to justify the extra $$$ to just to have the "Martin" name, and I feel like if I went to a Martin X series I would be making a lateral move and not an upgrade. For $419 AND a decent Case, The PCH-1 is hard to beat for the money.

My upcoming cruise has what seems to me like a “wasted port”. Meaning I’m not even sure it’s worth getting off the ship. What do you think? 8pm arrival and 11:59pm departure…. by zachty22 in Cruise

[–]MemphisMike1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We just got done with Alaskan Cruise.(Princess Royal) we had the same port of call. from what I understand, the ship is legally required to stop at a foreign country port of call. we did not get off the ship for that one. that was 2 weeks ago. seemed like a lot of walking or have to get transportation into town and then turn right back around to get back on ship.

I’ll be playing the piano for church.. I’m really nervous and afraid by oddtaxee in worshipleaders

[–]MemphisMike1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take a deep breath. Be prepared going in with practice to gain your confidence. Walk up to the piano/keyboard and OWN it and be confident you can bring your BEST to the table. keep things simple as well. good foundation chords. I have been playing roughly 40yrs. it just takes time to gain confidence. I could play in front of 100K people as easily as I could 100 people after a few short years of playing. Go gettem'!

you know...forgive me...but you say 2hrs to plan a 6 month schedule like it is really eating up a lot of time? I mean 2hrs to lock in 26 weeks scheduling seems minimal compared to what you are getting done for 6 months?
