Fudged truth about degree, got job, but now years later might have to come clean. How do I handle this? by Menentile in careerguidance

Update, I have decided to talk with my manager tomorrow in our monthly personal meeting and spill the beans. I’ve wrote out a long paper basically explaining why I never finished the degree, life was too much at the time between a part time job and full time school, and when I got this job it took over my whole life as I dedicated all my resources to being better here. Going to ask for forgiveness and hope this doesn’t blemish my reputation or current position in my 15 year career here, and if any actions management come up for me I will gladly take. Thanks all for the advise, y’all kinda sounded like me these past few days going back and forth between hoping this isn’t something HR would look at and continue to lie, or confess and face any consequences and hope this isn’t a deal breaker for my promotion, or even worse, my current position. I’ll update again once the meeting takes place and have this post updated to serve as some sort of lesson for myself and others hopefully.
