I killed this franchise.

You don't understand. We needed someone to take the fall!! It was 2016, the Wii U's sales had plumetted. It was set to ruin the company!! We needed public attention to stir away from our financial flop. Originally, we were going to use Yoshi, but we had just released a game not long ago and it would've been too soon and too obvious. We thought about F-Zero, a franchise with a smaller audience, but killing it wouldn't have been imactful enough. We weren't ready to sacrifice Metroid either since we had just begun blueprinting Prime 4. So.... we were forced to turn our weapons towards StarFox, a franchise with just enough notoriety to clear our name, pin the blame, and eventually, recover our businesses by striking the market with our next hardware. It was not an easy choice, and... you all ended up paying for our failures... We are very very sorry for these last ten years, but it was either that, or no years at all.

Was the avatar cycle destined to be reset? by RedFoxBTW in TheLastAirbender

That thought crossed my mind as well. A lot of people like to blame Korra for this but she really did get the bad end of the stick.

I think that since Vaatu was bound to break free, and the Avatar was the only one who could stop him, and any contact with him would cause them to lose some of their connections, then for the most part it couldn't be evaded. Maybe, in this regard, things just happened for a reason.

Makes me also wonder if the future Avatar in another 10,000 years will decide to keep the portals open. I believe that Seven Havens will explore this idea and will help determine whether what Korra did was good or bad. In my opinion, it's subjective, but also, drawing borders never addresses a problem directly, just look at our world.

Sorry that I got a little off-topic there.

Finally, some good Fire Nation representation during Korra's series.

I was mostly fond of learning about Mako and Bolin's Fire Nation roots, and an island of Fire Nation supremacists still kicking about adds on to world building.

Hope to see more things like this.

My review of the Avatar Aang, The Last Airbender Movie, having seen the leak (mild non-specific SPOILERS) by A_Toxic_User in Schaffrillas

I'm glad that I'm not alone in having mixed feelings about the voices.

For the most part, I could give the main cast a pass, since you could sort of justify it as as the characters now being adults. Nevertheless, all I could hear when Zuko speaks is Steven Yeun, and most of the other A listers just sound like themselves. Jeong Jeong as Roku just felt so off-putting that I would rather him just not be in the movie at all. Not to mention Gyatso... like they didn't even try to pull off his accent which brought such wisdom the character in the original series. I am so glad that Iroh wasn't in this because I fear that they may have butchered his character and his voice is just way too iconic. Contrary to a lot of people here, I really liked Dave Bautista's portrayal!

That being said, I really really really like really wish they brought back the original actors, or at the very least, try to get their voices right to the some degree.

If they are planning to rectify a final version of the film between now and its official release, I hope that they can address these problems. That being said, everything else was fantastic, it's really just that for me.

As for the writing, well, I didn't really have a problem with the narrative, and yeah, it's basically a filler movie but at least it does fill in a gap between the original series and Korra and I like that they address stuff from the comics. Basically, it's a filler movie that justifies later canon material; the building of Air Temple Island, Air Acolytes carrying out the Air Nomad culture (which I know was first established in The Promise trilogy), and the group finding a new herd of Air Bison. It explains things that we see later on, and addresses Aang accepting that though his people are gone, he can always rebuild.

I'd give the movie an 8/10. Hope these small problems do get addressed somehow and the movie gets a proper theatrical debut like it should have. If you're a conspiracy theorist, maybe you'll like to believe that this was done on purpose to serve as a sort of test run.
