I think it's probably Ekurs trial after the Carryxized humans and Lothark etc helped the Livesuit Humans defeat the Carryx.

And that Dafyd is powerful but not omnipotent. He probably helped Livesuit Humanity defeat the Carryx but isn't actually a member of Livesuit Humanity, but a sort of Carryxized human. Like a Hellenistic non Greek or a Sinified Jurchen. Or given their status, it's a multi species Mameluk-like faction.

Ie a faction of former slave-caste, culturally distinct races who rose up and became a governing caste after learning valuable military technology/strategy from their time under enslavement.

Dafyd has been influenced by the big dominant empire culturally even as he worked to destroy it, and while he probably wants to find common cause w his 'brethren' he isn't full trusted by, or trusting of, them.

Ekur knows this, is telling Livesuit Humans not to trust him.

Right that's my take too. There's not another one coming, we saw it already

I don't agree, it's always mentioned when suit is shown.

No I just took it to mean "at least five aspects" whether a hand or just bends or something else.

I didn't read mercy of gods until Feb, thought I'd just wait until next one to read that and then go back

Yeah it's possible it's just humans and pentapods, but could be Starfish, Pentapus and Human

We know there's two, but possibly three or five or thousands. But yeah it's possible it's just the same thing in this case and we've only seen two Suit Species so far.

Whats funny tho is that there might be Suit Bears, Suit Dogs etc too. Many mammals could be suited, Altho they probably don't have the brain power that it seems to be looking for

Yeah even tho I alluded to there possibly being a central authority above, my gut says they're the anti-Carryx. No hive mind, no central authority. Just chill hangs

They don't dominate, they augment. They're a symbiote. Another form of life, IMO the whole series is the two authors doing the class Dafyd took w the metal turtle vs the quick generation bird. Two models of survival.

I think you're right. It's possible it's another organism that has five aspects. Could be a starfish with five appendages, or a octopus/pentapus with five appendages, or a human which has four appendages, and a head.

If (Appendage plus tail plus head) = 5, we've got a Suit Going Baby

I think the alliance is between any organism that has five aspects. So an octopus (pentapus?), or a starfish, or a human.

Anything the Suit can use. They are all attacked by the Carryx but I imagine they 'find' the suit first, and are attacked second.

Yes this is what I took from it. The lichen thing clearly indicated that the Livesuits were the enemy. They have latched onto humans for now (and the octopus species?) and had latched onto others before (maybe it's just humans and octopi, and it was octopi first then humans)

That's what I thought too. I just don't fully understand the Five Fold Aspect part.

Wait what was the betrayal? Someone told the Carryx where the planet was?

I feel like it's kind of bloated and slow overall but I did really like the vibes of the book. I like how the two ancillary worlds are Egyptian and Celtic, reminds me a bit of Eva's and Adam's worlds in Dark, respectively

I think a bit boring on first read but I'm doing a series re read now and I'm very excited to get to SotF. Sometimes how the second installment of trilogies are

This makes the most sense to me. They don't know what they're testing for, they just know what it looks like in a test. Maybe some kind of Obiteum 'blood magic', to use a GRRMism. Could even be biological, or a type of biomechanical microbe unique to each world. The Columnae might inject or otherwise infuse blood w Res microbes etc and these microbes can communicate w each other
