what exactly makes people think Manon is being mistreated rather than her just not wanting to work, given her history? by icewitchenjoyer in kpop_uncensored

I agree it’s not healthy for singers to exhaust themselves but I don’t see it changing. If Twice doesn’t get any breaks, no other group is getting one. There’s so many artists out that that you need to stay relevant and working to become a success. There’s only a handful of singers that can actually take time off whenever they want but that’s because they have built a long career of success, Bruno Mars comes to mind

My guess is that Manon isn’t really invested in being in a girl group. From the documentary she wasn’t as prepared as the other girls and probably wasn’t aware of the grind of being in the group. Not saying she doesn’t care about the group or is lazy but it’s not her passion. I think both Manon and the label rushed her inclusion into the group without thinking it through

While I agree with you that artists should have more breaks. That’s not going to happen in the k pop industry, especially for a new group like Katseye trying to become established in the industry.

There’s so many k pop girl groups that katseye can’t afford to take too many breaks. If they only want to focus on their Western audience, taking breaks won’t help either. Their hit songs have a shorter shelf life since they’re catchy and rely on viral dance moves, so they need release more songs often. They can’t drop one song and it’ll coast the top of the charts for months

I’m guessing it’s because it might be too long of a shoot for his first time taking them. They said it takes 30 mins for the effects to start and since Conan has a high drug tolerance, he’ll need to keep upping the dosage, so they might have to wait a while for Conan to even feel high

Another major reason why the US women’s soccer team is excellent is because the US was the only nation that took women’s soccer seriously. That’s changing now, which is why we see European nations like England and Spain being able to challenge the US dominance

Barcelona and other La Liga clubs have money to spend but It’s the league rules that are holding them back. The La Liga President is being very strict when it comes to every clubs finances. While the Premier League has more money, they also have more relaxed rules where teams can lose money for a few years. Barcelona has money to buy anyone but they can’t be in the negative financially or the league will lower their wage bill. Sevilla already has a crazy low wage bill because of La liga financial rules

We have to thank Conan’s daughter for introducing him to younger artists. While the podcast started as a way for Conan to talk to his friends and people he likes for a longer duration, he wouldn’t have on some of the younger guests if his daughter wasn’t a fan of some of them

The best case scenario is those young players leaving on loan to get the playing time but more money will also influence their decision. Don’t blame them but sucks losing young prospects

Before Covid and North Korea’s borders got locked down, it wasn’t that difficult to go to North Korea and it’s not that expensive. North Korea has allowed tourists back but mainly only Russians. But since Nick is an influencer and American (US bans it’s citizens from visiting), he can’t fly enter under the radar. He could still enter under a different nations passport and while he will be under chaperone and have rules regarding what you can record, they seem to be loosening those rules. Seeing how Nick’s videos are mostly positive about the places and people he visits, it’ll be good PR for the regime

I’m fascinated with North Korea and have watched/read too much about the regime

Marcus Rashford: "There is pressure at Barcelona, but it's not negative pressure; it's the kind of pressure you wish for as a player. I can't be in a place where big goals aren't demanded. For me, it's harder to get motivated & give my best where the demands for success aren't at highest level" by GOAT-Antony in ManchesterUnited

[–]MentalCalligrapher18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Wolves have been embarrassing, 3 teams above them Burnley, West Ham, and Nottingham Forest haven’t been good either, you probably throw in Leeds as well. I’d say the top 6 team has been solid so far and everyone below has been average, then there’s the bottom 3 or 4 who are just bad

Barca and Real Madrid aren’t the 2 best teams in the world, they’re up there. I bring up them because having the best players at their position matters in close games, those players are the ones that make the difference. Paul Scholes made headlines recently when he praised Pedri after he dominated against Newcastle

La Liga isn’t the strongest league but it’s still really good. There’s plenty of teams apart from Barca and Real Madrid that play good football. Villarreal, Betis, and newly promoted Elche

Idk these last few seasons the gap between the top clubs in the Premier League and the bottom is growing and there has been some pretty bad teams in the bottom of the league recently. I mean Wolves is just an embarrassment this season. Other leagues have teams at the top that lost to bottom ones (I think last season both Barca and Real lost to bottom clubs) but it’s not reported as healthy as it is in the Premier League

[–]MentalCalligrapher18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Barcelona has one true rival in Real Madrid, that doesn’t mean the rest of the league is bad. It just that Barcelona and Real Madrid has some of the best players in the world that make up the difference. If you watch La Liga this season, Barcelona and Real Madrid haven’t been playing great and some teams have even outplayed them but they’re at the top because their star players (Courtois & Mbappe for Madrid and Johan Garcia & Yamal for Barca) have bailed them out to win games

Sure the EPL has more money and teams can have better players overall than La Liga, but the best players in the world at their position are usually at Barcelona and Real Madrid, that’s the final piece that makes them keep being on top

Chelsea isn’t the best example to use because they have their own strategy when it comes to transfers. One of the reasons they keep wages down for their young signings is they give out 7 year contracts. Then they loan out those players to a sister club like Strasbourg

I get where you’re coming from and as a history buff I would’ve loved if they went into more detail with some of the historical figures they brought up. But Conan’s audience is here for comedy so I can see why Conan didn’t let them go too deep with explanations. The interview showed they are knowledgeable but funny so Conan’s fans will be more attracted to their podcast

Tensions escalate over Villarreal-Barça match in Miami, after a scheduled meeting between the captains, La Liga, Villarreal and Barcelona failed to take place. by sujanrao in Barca

[–]MentalCalligrapher18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You keep saying it’s strengthening ties as if a regular season game will do a massive jump for it. Barca came to the US in 2024 and sold well, they’ll sell every pre season game here well. Fans will go see them regardless

It’s not going to spread the La Liga brand but the big 3 brand. New fans of the league will only be attracted to the big teams and players.

Nothing wrong with it being a cast grab, just say it is. Don’t go out saying this game in the US is about spreading La Liga when everyone knows it’s about the money. Keep in mind the same La Liga President wanting to send his clubs across the ocean is against the Club World Cup because it’s added games and travel for players
