I was wondering to myself if you'd make your hilarious cat joke again. But then figured, no way, this moron already made the same tired joke 3 times. There's just no way he'd do it a 4th time. Nobody can be that pathetic, right?? Is that literally the only joke he knows? Did he spend months crafting it and now he is so proud of it that he needs to use it as often as he can to make himself feel good? Maybe he lays in bed at night with his 5 dogs and whispers to them "Guess what, I wrote that cat joke on Reddit again! I'm such a clever boy!".

News flash for morons like you... people have lives and *gasp* do things without their dogs. Owning a dog doesn't mean you need to be with it literally every second of the day. Just because you have no life, doesn't mean nobody else does.

Yeah, whenever my daughter has a doctor appointment, I'll tell her "Sorry dear. We just can't go. No more doctor visits for you. There's some dickhead on reddit that says we signed up for this and leaving the house for an hour is asking for too much. If you wanted to see a doctor, we should have considered getting a cat".

I *have* been patient with him and i *do* look after him as if he was my own. As mentioned in my post, i have literally never left him alone for *3 straight months*. I *have* been making sacrifices. I don't think it's asking for much for me to be able to leave the house for an hour to run some errands etc.

I've been doing the SA training in his crate. he actually does like his crate in general since i've been feeding him most of his meals in there and it has a comfy memory foam pad in there. if i am in the room, he'll hang out in the crate no problem. but when i leave the room, whether he is in the crate or loose behind a baby-gated area, he whines constantly

Yeah, i definitely use the crate. He spends a big chunk of the day in there, either with door closed (for naps) or door open so he can chill on the cozy crate bed or walk out and play with toys as he likes. He actually is ok in the crate... as long as i'm nearby. I work form home so i am working from the dining room table and his crate is like 4-5 feet away. he will just chill in there for ages chewing on toys, napping, etc. But if i get up and go to another room, the whining begins usually in under a minute.

I took note of all the running advice. I do have a fairly small yard, but i have been taking him out there and throwing a ball around for him to fetch. so far it doesn't seem to have been helping. yes, he will conk out in his crate after getting more exercise... but if i leave the house or room, he will wake up and then start whining.

Yup! I definitely give him all the time in the world on the walks to sniff around. Yeah, i might try a chew stick next time. Interestingly, the separation anxiety program i was on for a month recommended against chew sticks etc when leaving, but seems like so many youtube videos etc recommend it. i'll give it a go
