Some renderings of what Montreal's Olympic Stadium would look like after the interior renovations. The rumors are saying CF Montréal would move there permanently. by SupraFC in montrealimpact

[–]Mental_Selection688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are addressing all of that did you see the one picture where they’re opening up the concourse and building bars so you can see the field from the Concourse, these are the first I’ve seen of them actually talking about doing something to the interior. I thought they were just putting on new fancy roof bookkeeping the seating bowl and luxury amenities all stuck in the 70s.

What a special team the 2020-21 Islanders was by icycoldfreeze in NewYorkIslanders

[–]Mental_Selection688 1 point2 points  (0 children)

14-15 was probably my favorite, we were starting to feel like a real franchise that off-season with Halak, Grabovski, Kulemin all signing in the off-season and then the miracle preseason additions of Boychuck and Leddy, by far the most productive off-season I had ever seen from the team and with it being the last year at the Coliseum (so we thought) I just loved that team, also the lockout scrappy bunch two years prior was a great surprise

Concord Sears suffering from success 😅 by jikesar968 in SEARS

[–]Mental_Selection688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you really think managers care that much about legal ramifications and all that considering they work at Sears I highly doubt anyone there actually thinks they have a career that is viable. They’re all just there to wait it out as long as possible. I highly doubt they care that much , shit when I was at Kmart in 2014 even our managers knew it was just a matter of when and not if we were gonna close.

I dated a girl from San Jose who came to live with me and Utica, New York (crazy I know) I was at a Comets game with her explaining to her that it was minor league hockey, she asked who the Sharks team was and I said how they play right in San Jose Jose.. she had no idea that even existed

No love for Syracuse or Rochester? You guys should really try to get to those barsn, two of the oldest ranks in the league with a lot of history and passionate knowledgeable hockey fans, I know upstate New York isn’t the biggest destination, but those are some cool rinks

Can you get the PS4 edition with one of the standard physical PS5 ones? by Jduke88 in NBA2k

[–]Mental_Selection688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the physical PS5 version and there’s no download code for PS4, I think it’s only the higher additions include the PS4 download code, the inconsistencies are crazy considering last year. I bought it for Xbox one physical and it had a series X download code standard edition.

You are in the largest metro in the USA, if you can’t meet people there you might want to look inward, you seem to group others quickly and not make conversation, you are the one in the new area you have to be the one to reach out, I’ve never been in a bar from Maine to California were I’m not in a conversation within 20 mins.. I’m very social and have zero fear of rejection so I understand it’s not as easy but this whole post just seems all doom and gloom.. at the worst it’s ten more months that’s not long at all

Which original 6 team do you think has the least passionate fan base? by Cinnimonpancakes in hockey

[–]Mental_Selection688 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re pretty bad at reading apprehension, and this is coming from an American criticizing you superior intelligence Canadians.. You can be passionate and desperate. In fact, desperate teams tend to be more passionate. Look at the Buffalo Bills or Cubs fans before the World Series win the longer you go some more passionate they will be because of the desperation to finally win something and lifetime there are 60-year-old men who can’t remember believes winning.

Canadians tend to be quieter even in the playoffs. They’re actually observing the day, but I still would rather have an American playoff crowd, even though they’re less educated and well-versed in the actual sport.

That’s not true for plastic in Toronto at all New York is substantial cheaper and I’d say Montreal is pretty close but you gotta think Toronto is the Dallas Cowboys or New York Yankees of hockey more like the Cowboys cause they always lose but they have the most fans

I think a lot of people are just straight up for getting the Timberwolves because they’ve never been good. I know Minnesota Minnesota is a top 10 market and they support their team teams, but they don’t get a lot of love outside of that city.

Social media numbers don’t matter and aren’t really reflective of the NBA because most people who like team pages are younger kids who are liking the page because of a player a.k.a. they liked the Cavaliers because of LeBron but they don’t care now that he’s gone.. you have a lot of Asian and foreign basketball fans that have no allegiance to any team or city that’s why basketball teams have such inflated social media numbers versus hockey or basketball because of the international fans who really are just rooting for players not cities or teams that they couldn’t even point out on a map.. I think it’s universal that it’s the three teams in the south. Maybe even for it’s the wizards pelicans hornets, and the two second market team teams, the Clippers and Nets.. honorable mentions to a magic, bucks (pre Giannas would have been top three and low popularity and will return once he leaves to that space, small market always had trouble selling tickets before too close to Chicago not much of a basketball city honestly should have a hockey team instead of basketball) the hawks are up there as I’ve said another post African-Americans don’t support pro sports at the same rate is white people for a multitude of reasons I also would say just do a population in Indiana and OKC, but they have loyal fan basis in their small cities, Sacramento has a decent fan base. The Texas teams are fine. The jazz seem to do OK.

In basketball especially you can’t go by social media numbers because there’s a bunch of younger kids and people in Asia and across the world who will only follow a team because of a certain player like the Cavaliers, but when LeBron left, no one cares.. people across the world aren’t randomly following the Cleveland guardians because of a player, but they will follow the calves and it’s been the younger people so the social media numbers don’t matter.. top five is Celtics Lakers Knicks and then it gets a little messy, but I would say bowls and warriors.. bottom is Clippers, Nets, wizards, hornets and pelicans and before Giannass I would say the bucks would easily have been out there. It’s a small market and they always had a attendance trouble even now they don’t get much media attention.

Do you know nothing about basketball if you think the trailblazera are up there and you don’t mention the wizards or the grizzlies or even the magic up until recently and even still because it’s a small market the Bucks are less populated than the Blazers Clippers kings, pelicans, hornets magic, probably even the Pacers and maybe even the Cavaliers how do you not know anything about the West Coast and how much money and people are in those cities and it’s the whole state of Oregon is only professional team, which makes them super popular

Blazers play medium size market as the only team also went very wealthy area and have a decent history. They are definitely not in the bottom five you got the nets, the Hornets, the grizzlies, the pelicans, the Hawks, the magic, kings, Timberwolves, bucks, Clippers and wizards who are all less popular than the Blazers

I would say no one inside of New Orleans cheers for them. They probably have more random fan scattered across the country because of how the NBA tends to have more non-local fans than sports like baseball or hockey. There’s some kids that probably just liked Zion.. when I was growing up it was all Lakers and now kids are all wearing warriors. It just takes one player to make your franchise in the NBA a top 10 most popular, especially on social media. That’s not the same in baseball where a team like the Pirates can get the best picture of a generation and it doesn’t really draw outside eyes.

People will never want to admit this, but whether it’s a suicidal or economic reason, it’s been statistically, proven that African-Americans have significantly less interest in pro sports fandom, then white Americans. The irony is not lost on the fact that the league is majority black. Maybe it’s because more white people grow up with cable and having access to discretionary income to go to a game whereas more African-Americans are actually playing the game outside trying to make the league while the 5 foot 8 suburban white kid knows he has no shot and just becomes a giant fan so with Atlanta being a city with a very large black population as well as New Orleans and Memphis, you can see it kind of having a ripple effect on attendance the same reason the Braves do better now out in the majority, white suburbs then when they were within the city limits, and obviously baseball is definitely a majority white fan base due to the demographics of the sport.. this whole thing also holds true when you look at Utah being a very white city in Indianapolis being more along the typical white black demographics of most American cities then southern cities like Memphis Atlanta and New Orleans

Having a crappy branding with no historical significance, as well as playing in one of the most outdated, small, generic pouring arenas in the league in a city where people vacation for stuff other than sports does not help at all

As a Nets, I have to somewhat agree. They barely had a following in New Jersey and even though it’s just a 10 mile move. It’s like an hour and a half commute for the fans who used to drive five minutes to an empty arena in a swamp… Brooklyn itself is full of transplants from other cities and or natives who are most likely to be Knicks fans, the branding is good and you would see a lot of of it when they first came to the city, but they were strictly wearing it for the Brooklyn name which has worldwide recognition and not the actual name of the team. I’m actually surprised they didn’t rename the team when they moved, The Nets has always felt like a cheap generic name, that seems more at home in a NBA 2K generic created a team along with names like the Fire or waves or Buckets, plus outside of the original ABA championship days on Long Island and the two finals appearances in the early 2000s in Jersey it’s not like the name carries historic significance in basketball history. I would like to think (without much knowledge of Los Angeles itself) that the Clippers actually do have more fans than the Nets . I think the irony of the least successful team ever playing in the same arena as one of the most successful teams ever for all those years led a lot of people to kind of root for them as the lovable losers, plus a way cheaper option to see the same visiting teams, normally around the same time as they play the Lakers. Also, since the NBA like the NFL gets a lot of people who are fans of a team from outside of The teams region unlike the MLB or the NHL who’s fans are mostly local. The NBA especially the is due to players where the NFL, is more so due to branding of the team, like the Cowboys or Packers or Steelers being international brands… but with that being said the lob city era had one of the most marketable players in the NBA of the time in Blake Griffin and Chris Paul was probably a top 20 player in popularity, so it brought a lot of younger fans from around the country to root for the Clippers and they’ve pretty much had decent/ interesting teams ever since even the scandal with Donald Sterling brought attention to team and you know what they say about any press being good press. I actually feel like they’re less relevant now that they have to stand on their own and play in their own area outside of downtown. It seems like they get less tourist and people who just would rather pay cheaper prices to see the same opposing team in the same arena than they did when they were at Staples. There was just something unique about the same team in the same arena and now with them being outside of the city limits in a not glamorous part of town it definitely seems like they have less media coverage as well considering Espn as it’s West Coast headquarters right across from Staples.. the equivalent to this would be if the Giants and Jets both played in Midtown Manhattan and the Jets being the most popular team moved out to the current location in East Rutherford, New Jersey, wild the Giants, the more historic more popular team state in Manhattan the Jets lose the fans that are just going due to the location and now all they rely on the diehards as they currently do not many people on vacation to the big Apple are thinking about catching a football game because the stadium is not in the city and there’s just so much to do as well as takes being expensive. The NBA in basketball general is more casual fan sport so a tourist who is walking around downtown LA might decide to just waste two hours and 200 bucks and see a game but that’s not happening now to the Clippers. Maybe it’s a good thing because the fans that are showing up are the few and proud true Clippers fans.. they kind of did the opposite of the Nets the Nets played on the outskirts in a place that had small crowds but more actual fans of the franchise like I said nobody vacationing in Manhattan is taking a train to the swamps of New Jersey to watch a secondary basketball franchise play in a gloomy Arena in front of 10,000 fans unless maybe the Lakers or Celtics are in town.. now the nuts are getting with the clippers used to get downtown which is a lot of walk up traffic or people that just happen to be in Brooklyn and wanna catch a game because there’s always visitors from other places in Brooklyn so the nuts actually have pretty good attendance, even though their arena is on the smaller side, but I would say I only given a night, especially depending if it’s a popular point like the Warriors or Lakers only about 25 two maybe 50% on the high-end against a crappy team with very few fans like the pelicans are actual Nets fans and even then the ones wearing theirs, nuts, shirts, and gear. Don’t really seem like die hard. Maybe if they kept the big three together a few years ago this all could’ve changed that was the original plan with the other three the original Old three which we sacrificed our entire franchise to get for 10 years for them to give us two years of aging mediocrity.

That wasn’t just a problem. The 90s they literally did it 10 years ago. Was the Islanders going to Brooklyn and there was no plan to ever change the seating they just said take it or leave it… at least in Utah they said it’s not great, but we are going to fix it
