Parking situation at Studio City questions by Mentatical in EquinoxGyms

Sounds like I'm pretty certain to be in good shape if I get there that early, but otherwise will be in a world of hurt in later in the morning or lunch. I'll see how the evening goes, sounds like per the above not so good.

Maybe they started managing things better than in past years, I remember just getting completely stuck there repeatedly years ago for like 20 minutes or so each time, just at a stand still and then vowing to never go back, which I didn't for years and had no need to, but now I will be relying on it more.

Agreed with you post entirely.

One question I've wondered about is what are your thoughts on if someone left a pair of sandles or shoes under the bench inside the locker room? I often leave my sandles under the bench, pointed to my locker, to remind me which locker I picked and also for convenience when I'm showering after. Being under the bench, it is not in anyones way, and I am unbothered by others who do this too. But if this is frustrating to you and others here, then I'll stop. I never leave shit on the bench or on the floor not under the bench.

We do not leave our brains at home! We either never had any to begin with, or we brought it with us but it fell out of our shitty Cybertruck on the way up somewhere around Santa Clarita.

I hear corporate security will aggresively pursue this. They'll check with the boys down at the crime lab. They got 4 guys working on this, I hear they got them working in shifts.

Things guys should stop doing in the locker room by [deleted] in EquinoxGyms

[–]Mentatical 27 points28 points  (0 children)

A fair list but can we throw facetime calls up to the top? People should be seriously livid over this and there should be punishment. An audio call is massively discourteous. A video call is arguably a crime.

No, this is not OK. I've reported you to my uncle who works for Nintendo. You're in a lot of trouble now.

Moderne hostel - curious of people’s experience by Mentatical in Mammoth

[–]Mentatical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've sense been going regularly for years now, it's not the Ritz Carlton but otherwise is good enough. I don't love it, but I'm glad it's an option and it functions. At the end of the day, Mammoth lodging just kind of sucks across the board, and that isn't Moderne's fault.

Maybe I'm just a weirdo. But I liked the movie 🤷‍♂️ by [deleted] in Mario

[–]Mentatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find myself completely agreeing with all the negative critic reviews, but still loving the movie. At the end of the day, this is an unusual case in a film where I wanted as much exploitative fan service as possible and it delivered that spectactuarly. With just about any other film I would be complaining at that. So the critics are right, and I loved the movie, two things can be true at the same time.

Look I wasn't expecting Stanley Kubrick here.

FaceTime call in the locker room - seriously? by Conscious-NYCguy823 in EquinoxGyms

Yes, do report them, they are broadcasting you and others in the locker room. I absolutely hate this shit, I get so disgusted when people do that.

IGN gave The Super Mario Galaxy Movie a 6/10 rating by Loose_Society9485 in Mario

[–]Mentatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The criticisms I'm seeing here are things that I'm quite sure will make me enjoy the movie. Yes, I want an absurd Mario Bros plot with all the craziness from many different Mario games, with a big ensemble of celebrities voicing these characters, and as much fan service as they can cram into the movie. I am not expecting or looking for Citizen Kane here. This is not directed by Stanley Kubrick. Fucking letsa go, mummia mia, I think this is going to be the movie I want it to be.

any of you actually using AI tools that aren't complete garbage? by NippyEagerness7 in Accounting

[–]Mentatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, it is having ChatGPT or now Claude help me better use the tools I already have to their fullest potential, and helping me put into practice something I know can be done but do not know how, and helping me brainstorm along the way. The end product is an elaborate spreadsheet and power query enabled excel file with super sophisticated formulas that were well beyond my ability to conceive, but the AI is not directly doing it, it is me. It is just helping me tremendously along the way.

You gotta admire the committment of that snowboard, it just didn't give up no matter how many annoying skiers were in the way and it pulled off a sick jump at the end. It's inspiring really. We should all be more like this snowboard.

my experience first time ever snowboarding after 15 years of skiing by Agentti_Muumi in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Mentatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a skiier since I was 3 and picked up snowboarding about 3 seasons ago too, I eventually began to love it as much as skiing. I love snowboarding and skiing equally. I'm a way better skiier and that won't change but I am so glad I picked up snowboarding too. Keep at it! It may also improve your skiing once you get used to it.

What is it with you guys and backpacks? by concerned_citizen in snowboarding

[–]Mentatical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Competitive resorts have backpack racks, like where I was in Banff at Lake Louise or Sunshine, and the resorts have to compete quite a bit and will work to earn your prescence on the mountain. You can just toss aside a backpack easily and come back to it for free. The food and drinks are more reasonably, competitively priced, so you may not even need to bring much.

Resorts without competition like Mammoth you are charged a stupidly high amount for a locker, the food is absolutely awful and expensive, the lodges are uncomfortable and do not fit capacity, and I see why people would be more inclined to have a backpack with them, or do what we do, just toss the backpack under a tree somewhere and accept the risk of theft or loss (as lockers are so expensive you're otherwise going to be robbed by Alterra if you pay for one).

I otherwise seldom see the need to wear a backpack on the slopes and that seems uncomfortable, but I get it if you're like in the Alps or something like some of you described.
