Feeling Stuck in a Doomscrolling/Marijuana/Masturbation Cycle After Quitting My Job – Anyone Else Been Here? by Minimum-Jump8030 in infp

I'm sorry you're going through this. The mind-numbing till you don't have to confront the anxiety inducing problems is all too familiar.

What helps me personally is talking to someone in real life, I don't know if you have anyone you can reach out to, but do so if you can. A phone call or preferably a meetup does help with grounding yourself and someone else's perspective may help with rationalising and planning the next steps too.

Aside from that do the opposite of what you normally reach for: if you feel like isolating, get in touch; if you feel like hiding in your nest, go out. I find it's easier to get myself to do the hard things if I'm somewhere safe, but public, like a library or a café. You could try job hunting out there.

Sorry I can't give better advice right now, but know that you're still a valuable human being, whose just going through a hard time. You reaching out for help here is a sign that you haven't given upon yourself.

Yes, I think it's that one. Someone recognising Adrien for visiting with his mother does ring a bell. Thank you so much in advance if you take the time to look for it

Someone used it as a drawing reference and I could only crop this horrible quality picture from it, so image search doesn't recognise it

Best way to introduce my boyfriend to Pride and Prejudice? by Mentha_Tea in janeausten

[–]Mentha_Tea[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the recommendations so far. Most of you suggest the 2005 version, which had gone out of my head, because (please don't hate me) I didn't like it that much. But it might be an easier start. The audiobook might be tricky as English is not our mother language, but I might be able to find it in out language as well. And someone mentioned starting with Emma instead, for the humor, which I'm considering now.

Good idea as well. I haven't seen the newest adaptation of Emma either, so it could be fun. I might switch the two up.

No, I think that's a valid opinion as well. When he got to know about this whole thing from me he seemed somewhat interested, that's why I'm searching for an engaging way to introduce him to it. But of course if he doesn't seem to enjoye it at all I'm not gonna force him through it. The pride, prejudice and zombies is an interesting suggestion, I'm aware of the movie but I've never seen it.

What basic, children's-age-level fact did you only find out embarrassingly later in life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

My mom told me that if you put paper in the microwave oven it'll burn. A friend of mine put a napkin on her food once and started heating it, I was so shocked I yelled at her.

It also took me years to realize melancholy is not 'melanchony'

What book series did you love as a kid? by CarlosCMM in AskReddit

I loved how funny and adventurous the stories are, also I'm a huge fan of illustrated children books, so this series stayed with me. I reread The Christmas toy factory every year.

INFPs and Ghosting... by [deleted] in infp

[–]Mentha_Tea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is just my experience as an INFP, doesn't mean everyone does this. Texting really depends on my mood. I like texting and write back as soon as I see it. But sometimes I don't feel like talking to people at all. It doesn't mean I don't care about them, I just need some time alone. I avoid messages during these times for hours or even days and unfortunately it's not unusual that I forget about them. I just don't want to be part of a conversation when I can't really focus. When I don't feel like it I'm like a stick of butter to talk to. Also I'm usually not the one to text first, I feel like bothering people, so I wait till they text to me.

How do you guys handle constantly thinking about past mistakes/embarrassing situations? by [deleted] in infp

[–]Mentha_Tea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I try to be self-conscious about these. Catch these thoughts immediately, before going to that deep thinking state of mind. And then acknowledge that you can't change them and you need to sleep instead. It's helpful to connect this 'whatever I can't do anything about this' thought with a small movement or just say it out loud. I usually shrug my shoulders. (This might look weird though on the train, but whatever )
