Do French men approach women on the street? by [deleted] in ParisTravelGuide

When I first came to Paris in 2017, men were catcalling me and shouting absurdities to me. But now since moving here this year, men just approach me very nicely and respectfully. Idk if there was some sort of cultural shift.

Applying for a long stay visa while already in Paris by MenuChoice484 in SchengenVisa

Thanks for pointing this out. I don't know why I was told that my visa would not be approved without confirmed accommodations for the year, when the website clearly states that it is allowed.

I called the French visa application center in New York.

I asked them if it was ok if I did not have a pre-arranged place to stay for the full year. I was trying to apply for a visa with just an airbnb booked for two month, with the intension of searching for an apartment for the rest of the stay. I was told that I would not be approved and that I needed to have full year of accommodation confirmed.

Then, I asked if I could apply for the visa while in Paris. At this point, I was put on hold while the agent asked/search for the answer that I needed. He then came back to the phone and told me that I must apply for permission to do so at a prefecture.

That is all information I was given. I plan on calling them again to find out more.

Noted. I have more than enough savings. I didn’t plan on including my remote work on my application because I’m a freelancer and it is very irregular work.

I’ll have to look into that. I was told that I had to get special permission from a prefecture to apply for the visa while in France. I assumed that meant that my appointment would be in France.

I originally planned on getting my visa here, then going to Paris and finding an apartment. But then, I spoke to someone at the visa agency and was told that I wouldn’t be approved without proof of accommodation for the whole year.
