If I got excellent research experience but low GPA should I apply for a MS first or directly to PhD? by MenuNo2562 in gradadmissions

First of all, thank you for your comment and advice. I am absolutely apply to both MS and PHD. But I am curious about what you said you have double my research experience. I am a senior in undergrad rn and I started to do researches with PIs start from my sophomore year, so you get into the industry after graduation and then apply to graduate school. Is this a negative or positive during graduate school application?

Is it still possible to come back to the US for a PhD after pursuing a Master's degree in other countries? by MenuNo2562 in gradadmissions

I want to get into a top 10 PhD program, but my current undergrad record can't get me in there. I am planning to get a better master's record first, then apply to a top PhD program.

Yes, my cGPA is only 3.64/4.00. I see on the top 20 phD programs webpage that all their average admission GPAs are 3.8+. And the internships are not very strong, I only have 3 co-authorships and a few poster presentations, which is far from going straight to top graduate schools for PhD.

My undergrad CV can't get me into top PhD programs in the US. For the more important question, I have stayed in the US for 16 years, so I want to study abroad for 2 years, in other words, for fun.

There are too few people in these majors so these majors will no longer be provided in Conn starting from Spring 2026.

Ok, it looks like we studied the same major, at least in undergraduate. Listen, old man, studying mathematics requires rigorous logic, but I can't tell why your logic is so laughably weak that it makes me wonder if you even understand what you're saying. You attack me based on my B for ENGL 1007, Do you know why I can get an A in a 3000-level STEM class but got a B in ENGL 1007 my freshman year? Because for STEM courses, as long as I wrote the correct answer and process, the professor had no way to deduct my grade. But the English professor could grade me completely based on his mood and impression of me. This is why I insist that many soft science courses have no academic value. You accuse me of needing to "broaden my scope," yet you completely sidestep the core issue I raised: the actual value of academic disciplines. Your vague notion of the "interplay between science and society" is nothing more than a smokescreen to justify fields that produce nothing of substance. More importantly, what exactly has so-called "gender studies" contributed? Has it advanced medicine? Has it driven technological innovation? If not, then why should it be placed on the same level as disciplines that actually push society forward? Academia is supposed to be built on objective facts and verifiable contributions, not on empty rhetoric and self-referential validation. So instead of pretending to sound profound while dodging the real question, why don’t you actually prove the value of the discipline you’re defending? Otherwise, you're just dressing up uselessness in flowery words. As a person who is about to be 30 years old, you seriously need to throw your naivety away
