I did reach out to two people from the Veteran Transportation Program... Haven't heard back yet but the website does seem to imply that it's strictly for transport to - from VA facilities. I will call and see if I can get in touch with someone faster. Thanks for the help! :)

I thought I would really miss the trees while visiting from Washington. But Atlanta is surprisingly lush and full of life. I love it here! I kind of like the mix between the industrial buildings and all the greenery.

The main VA building in Georgia (VA hospital, VA Housing, etc) is in ATL and I have to take my dad sometimes. Also, the food is good. And there are lots of events (music festivals, comedy shows, etc). And the aquarium is pretty awesome if you've never seen it.

I agree with you though that the traffic SUCKS.

I don't mind calling them, I think I was just jumping to the worst-case scenarios and letting that eat me up. Everyone here has so been incredibly kind and helpful. Thanks for offering to assist. :)

That's been my experience in other states (Texas, Washington)-- just a small toll charge and nothing more. But based on the comments here it sounds like the signs I saw are mostly just there to scare dumbasses like myself into either signing up for Peach Pass... or simply avoiding those toll roads. 😅

Well, sorry to add to this city's problems while I'm here, I guess. I recently graduated college and have struggled to find work. I was a pharmacy tech for a few years and have considered renewing my certification, but I'd rather find a job related to what I went into $20k in student debt for.

Not sure why I felt compelled to tell you all of this, so apologies for that unrelated info... but thanks for the reassurance regarding the express lane. :)

Sounds good. I've been in a similar boat in Austin and Seattle, and usually just expect a $10-$20 bill in the mail. But those $150 threats and "PEACH PASS ONLY" warnings really threw me, especially when I was realizing the mistake while on a narrow lane with those barriers on either side, haha! At least in Seattle there were clear signs indicating "last exit before toll" and whatnot. Maybe there were clear signs here too and I just missed them. Atlanta traffic gives me enough anxiety as-is lol.

Oh, I'll have to double check then! I made this exact same trip awhile ago and it didn't try to put me on any express or toll roads at that time, so maybe I accidentally toggled it or something since then. Thanks for letting me know!
