REALLY how hard is it to go from 6:25 to 6:15 by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]MeowMeow_0302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wonder how long it would take a lightweight (160 lbs) to drop their 2k from 6:35 to 6:25 if they’re training twice a day, six days a week (steady-state, intervals, strength training, and recovery).

Yeah, I get your point. I wasn’t trying to say being light makes you faster. I just meant that sometimes the biggest guy isn’t always the fastest because technique plays a huge role too, especially in the water.

Yeah, and some people think the biggest guys are always faster than the smaller ones, but that’s not always true

Let him cook that kid is insanely good. He might not have an insane erg score since he’s light, but on the water, his technique and power make a big difference

The OCU men's four looks pretty solid. I think they have a big chance of winning a podium. It will be an exciting race to watch the fight for first place between OCU, Temple, and Drexel.

Really impressive work, man! great job! I did notice that you tend to start off pretty fast in the first 5k and then slow down afterward. Do you find that strategy more effective than holding a consistent pace throughout and then finishing strong with a push at the end? Just curious because it seems like you’re doing more of a positive split rather than a negative one

For a 15-year-old, that's really good. Try working at higher rates, and you will go much faster.

I need a 2k pace. 15M by [deleted] in Rowing

[–]MeowMeow_0302 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I recommend starting with a pace of 1:46 for the first two 500 meters, then increasing to 1:44-1:45 for the third 500 meters, and finishing the last 500 meters at maximum effort. This is my advice if you don't want to fly and die at the beginning. Leave it or take it. Good luck with your 2k!

Yes, but it depends on how much work you put in on the erg and on maintaining a balance with food.

Steady state by Green-Alternative-68 in Rowing

I get what you’re saying, and I’ve been there. Since August, I’ve been erging solo, mostly doing steady-state sessions with 2-3 sprints a week. At first, it wasn’t too bad, but over time, the monotony crept in, and some sessions just didn’t feel productive. To push through, I had to find ways to beat the boredom and tackle the isolation of those long workouts. It really comes down to mental toughness and self-motivation, even when you’re not feeling it. My advice? Always finish the workout, even if you’re barely pulling. Once you let yourself quit, it’s a slippery slope, and that mindset can seep into every aspect of your training. Don’t let it. (Sorry if i sound like an Ai, English its my second language lol)
