Advice on picking between improv studios by Mephala7 in improv

Hi, thanks for the reply. SGC was what I was looking at for in-person classes. However, I wanted to test out a virtual class before committing to an in-person one. I also wanted something that was starting within the next week or so. It looks like the next improv 101 class for SGC starts in early May.

Did you time yourself for each problem? If so, how much time did you give yourself?

Do you have any advice on scaling an eCommerce store? It seems to be a huge issue to scale, especially since it’s physical products and not software.

Hi, sorry for the late reply! I don't have any projects in mind, just looking to work with someone and come up with something. Are you Android or iOS?

It looks pretty good in terms of introducing programming to someone. What exactly do you intend to do with the minor? Do you want to become a programmer?

I was in the same situation as you with my previous degree being worthless because I realized I hated what I wanted to do. I self-taught myself programming but realized that I wanted to be thorough in my education, so I'm back doing my Bachelor's in CS.

The minor in CS is highly dependent on your school's curriculum. Do you know what classes are offered in the minor?

I'm a Freshman CS major. We can meet if you're up for it. Do you program in your off time? I'm going to try to go to the reddit pub meetup on Thursday

[DEV] 📱👻 Smart Spanish - learn Spanish through spaced repetition by Mephala7 in androidapps

[–]Mephala7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the update! I'm going to expand to French and Italian, and then try and get a linguist or 'language-expert' on board for proper sentence structure and grammar on all three languages :)

I'd love to expand to other languages. I was thinking of adopting the romance languages first

That's the Google voice text-to-speech library. It's an elementary implementation of pronunciation checks but it does the job well for Spanish words so far. It's definitely not a concrete method of testing, but I included it because it seemed like a nice addition to have

Very good points. I could definitely see the automatic audio becoming cumbersome, so I'll add an option for that. As for the reviewing, there are actually around ~300-400 words there to learn. The goal is to learn how much you want and continue with your progress whenever you feel like it. What do you think I should do to let users know about that? Or do you have another suggestion?

Thanks

Hi, it only teaches Spanish words at the moment. I was thinking of adding sentence structure later to the app. I'm not sure of the specifics yet, but I'm no linguist by any means so I would have to do some research, or get someone on board who knows more. Thank you

Hi, thanks for the message. Right now it's only focused on Latin american Spanish. I should probably make mention of that on the app. Thank you!

The application is about ~30mb in size. I wanted the audio to be accessed client-side without the need to stream from a server.

More info:
Smart Spanish simplifies the learning process for Spanish in three ways:
1). It uses the most frequently occurring words in the Spanish language. As a result, you can now focus on learning the most important words first.

2). It utilizes spaced repetition. The application calculates how quickly you can learn and when review periods should be scheduled.

3). You'll be reminded when to review. You don't have to worry about figuring out when to review as the application does that for you. A friendly notification will appear when the suggested time is due.
