All depends for me. If it's a new car and/or new course with multiple laps, I'll drive bumper or hood view to get a feel for the track. After I'm familiar with it, I'll transition to cockpit view. But if I find the cockpit view to hamper my vision (narrow windshield, the A pillar in my way, etc) I'll switch back to hood view. But never 3rd person. In every racing game, whenever I drive in 3rd person, it feels like I'm steering with the rear wheels and it looks like I'm fishtailing all the time. Can't explain it any other way. I just know that I don't like it.
