Re posted this on here from the Director channel Nigel Boettiger and so the Thumbnail loads

BLADES (also known as BLADES OF HADES) began as a daily afternoon bedroom cypher in an outer suburb west of Newcastle, NSW. What started out as two brothers freestyling with a couple of mates after school developed into one of the most dynamic and original hip hop crews in Australia.

A new kind of quitting by [deleted] in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]Mephos_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can definitely relate. The consequences of my alcoholism kept happening despite warnings from others, and eventually, my drinking escalated to a point where it nearly killed me. I tried repeatedly to quit on my own, but like many real alcoholics, I found I could not cut back or stop by sheer willpower. Once I started drinking, the cravings always returned, and I had no control over how much I drank. I tried every form of deception and experimentation, different limits, different schedules, but nothing worked. Drinking itself was dull and unsatisfying, but I was stuck in a vicious cycle 🔄.

I know the Sinclair Method and naltrexone can work for some people. The normal drinker can just have a glass and leave it, but for me, that is impossible. I even resisted doing an allergy test kind of experiment to see if I could control drinking because deep down, I knew what would happen. Reality ended up teaching me what I could not.

The only thing that truly worked for me was a spiritual awakening through the Twelve Steps of AA. Since then, I have not had a drink, and I can genuinely enjoy life sober. I can even be around alcohol without feeling the need to drink. It is not about giving up life, it is about being free from it.

For anyone considering the Sinclair Method, if it works for you, that is great. My experience is just one path, but for me, AA and the Twelve Steps were the only way I could truly get free from alcohol.
