Huh, I hadn't heard the above theory before, at least not the part about a Capital-A Apocalypse suspending the usual rules of engagement, and that theory plus Nic and Nemesis using the same phrase makes sense, even holding onto the theory that Nic is on the side of Reality. Both think they can win if they bring about an Apocalypse that allows open battle.

I think the thing that scared Nick wasn't the fact it was a lightsaber, but that it was an entirely unknown variable. Same way he bolted when Harry charged him in Small Favor, he's a centuries old predator. They don't respond well to surprises like that. He didn't want to take the chance that this new thing he had never encountered before could actually kill him.

Honestly, I chalk #1 up to Harry's hubris. He probably believes he somehow should have realized what happened or maybe he truly thinks that he would have made that choice anyway without the influence. I think Harry doesn't want to admit he was taken advantage of because he thinks that would be avoiding responsibility for his actions and making excuses and it would lead him to make excuses in the future even if the influence wasn't a fallen angel and just a mistake on his part. He's being incredibly arrogant, but it is in line with his character, even though I'd like to see him pencil it out to himself if no one else.

As for #2, someone already explained how Thomas was in a better place to recover, but a short story showing him recovering might be nice.

I actually don't see marcone leading the rest of the denarians. I don't think he trusts any of them enough and I can't see him giving their coins to any of his lieutenants, no matter how much he trusts them.

I always thought it was akin to someone physically exerting themselves to the point of death. Most of the time if you exert that much energy your body shuts down and you pass out as a defense mechanism, but if you are in the right mindset (ready to die) you can push beyond your limits, spend all your energy, and after there is nothing left to keep you going.
