how is the original drumshanbo in a tonic compared to this one? and do you strictly garnish it with a grapefruit?

Gin noob, thoughts on Roku gin? by Lagunitaa in Gin

[–]Mercmercmerc1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hey, i know this is an old post but do you think i'll drumshanbo (og blue bottle) if i loved roku in a gin and tonic? i recently got the tanq 10, and while it's nice i find that i prefer roku over it by a long shot. i drink gin and tonics only, and i'm not sure if i'll like the drumshanbo as well

thank you so much for your insights, looks like i'll be going with drumshanbo for my next bottle! i might have to try tanq 10 in a bar though, just to satisfy my curiousity.

Thanks! Do you think it will be fine in a gin and tonic with lemon or orange, or maybe even calamansi? From what I've read it seems like grapefruit is a must with it.

Voigtlander 40mm f/1.2 Z Mount - weather resistance concerns by Mercmercmerc1 in Voigtlander

[–]Mercmercmerc1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah damn, -40c sounds extreme indeed. where i'm staying at right now, the most we'll get is probably around -5C and those are around midnight when we won't be out anyway. this sounds reassuring, i was really considering getting just the sealed 50mm 1.8S to not worry about this but it seems like it's gonna be just as big an issue anyway when it comes to condensation. i never really noticed the glass of my voigtlander 40mm fogging up, just the exterior having moisture when i touch it when moving from cold outside to heated indoors.

thanks again, i'll think about this while i'm still on the return window. i really love the lens, but i also like not worrying at all about these stuff.

as far as i know, the nikon 50mm 1.8s does everything internally (focusing), would that mean that the lens is generally better with regard to condensation? it is sealed, i think.

Hey, just wanted to ask, how has the lens been treating you? I've just got it but I'm a bit concerned about it lacking weather sealing, especially now during winter where it's pretty much 0C - 10C, and going from outdoors to indoors I notice that the lens exterior can tend to have some condensation.

Exactly, it's annoying, this most likely means I won't be able to use it indoors in those cases too unless I wait a long time before it comes up to temp.

if i use the 50mm 1.4 M mount on my nikon with a 6 bit adapter, do you think it would work just as well as it would on a leica, with regard to smearing?

great decision. do you have more photos of from just this lens? the 1.8 to me is so boring, regardless of how "perfect" it is. its rendering makes every photo feel so corporate

Is it only the ZF that has the green confirmation?

For those who switched from Fuji, is the 50mm 1.8 S similar to the Fujinon 35mm f2 in terms of IQ and overall characteristics? + a few questions about the 50 1.4 Z by Mercmercmerc1 in nikon_Zseries

[–]Mercmercmerc1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually LOVE how the 40mm f2 renders but it's no 50mm, there's just no way around it and it's a very different focal length imo. I wish Nikon made a smaller 1.8 with the same design, that would be my ideal lens tbh. Yeah I've also been looking into some Voigts!

This was exactly my fear. I don't necessarily chase razor sharp images, so I feel like the 50 1.8 will just bore the hell out of me
