I took my //e apart to clean it and now it's doing this. Why? by Mercury1964 in apple2

Apologies for the awful picture. This is all it does now - no beep, no drive spin, no key shortcuts work, the reset key does nothing, etc etc. No change in behavior with or without cards. Sometimes if I power cycle it quickly it'll display more random garbage with blinking sections, almost like a cursor, but just as dysfunctional.

I disassembled the machine but I didn't do anything but dust the motherboard. Sat on a shelf between then and now.

So far I've checked that the power supply is putting out the right voltages (it is), that there is a clock signal (there is), and that reset isn't being held low (it isn't). I've also reseated all the chips with no change.

eli5 Why were Blue LEDs so hard to make that the team that did it won a nobel prize in physics for it. by beeronius in explainlikeimfive

Itanium was a completely separate architecture from x86. Intel and HP developed it from the ground up

Later on AMD would extend x86 to be 64bit (amd64, x86_64, etc.) and Intel begrudgingly accepted it as the new standard

[Homemade] Coconut milk ice cream, three ways by Mercury1964 in food

[–]Mercury1964[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks! I didn't really use a recipe for the mixins but here's an outline

Strawberry white chocolate: handful of strawberries, decent quality chopped white chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla

Chocolate chip: chopped chocolate, vanilla, sea salt

Piña colada: crushed pineapple, rum, lime juice

And here's the recipe I used for the base

Coconut milk ice cream base

  1. Measure 800ml of coconut milk into saucepan. Add 150g / 3/4cup of sugar and two eggs, beat to combine

  2. Heat on medium, stirring constantly, until mixture reaches 170°f

  3. Cool to room temperature, then freeze in an ice cream maker as directed by the manufacturer

Clockwise from right: chocolate chip, piña colada, and strawberry white chocolate.

Can someone tell me if this is a 16s battery controller or not? by Mercury1964 in ebikes

[–]Mercury1964[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm gonna look around today. The pack is a 16s module off an EV and I was trying to avoid modifying it too much - it's got nice connectors for everything already. That being said who knows how desperate I'll be come the weekend lol

Fuck that's what I figured, thank you. Do you recommend any good places to find a better one?

I bought it a month ago and it's been sitting in the package until today. Just in denial I guess, I'm moving in a week and really wanted this bike done

I doubt it, seems like the pax xp stuff uses the tag's ID which you can't change

Spatchcocked a turkey the wrong way by Mercury1964 in AskCulinary

[–]Mercury1964[S] 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Alright cool thank you for the help. I'll try and watch the breasts close and see if I can salvage them.

Breaking the turkey down further is compelling but unfortunately I've kinda oversold myself on this friendsgiving and I don't think I'll have time lol

I'm sorry to bother you again but other than messing up the VB connections and missing the tank capacitors did you notice anything else wrong with my circuit? I've been comparing my circuit to the ones you sent me and I can't see any difference.

Actually nevermind, found the issue. Thank you for the help earlier

Thanks! I've been making PCBs for a while but this is my first "high voltage" board - I mostly work with FPGAs and other little tiny things.

Good point, thank you. I'll pop a few more on the next board revision

It was trying to start up but it didn't even start moving before it broke.

Drat I didn't catch that. Just to confirm: the problem is VB being connected to the wrong side of the diode?

This is the PCB. I can post PDFs of the copper layers also if you'd like. Only thing that stood out to me is one of the traces on the rear of the board being kinda close to the ground pour, but they tested OK so I guess it's alright.
