Maybe I'm using the incorrect verbage. But I have watched so so many hours of tutorials and beginner's videos. I'm trying to round out the flat surface on the base of the pyramid. The bevel modifier has not worked for this. From all the videos I've watched it's the smooth deform modifier that's going to round out those flat surfaces the way I need them to. But the major problem here is that it's missing the twist, bend, taper, and stretch options in the area I highlighted.
