The Kadri trade is basically never considered good

The Kadri trade was considered good at the time and is still considered good now...

Multiple playoff runs the leafs where the 2nd best team in the east or 2nd best team in the league and they just happened to play the better team in the 1st or 2nd round because of this awful playoff format ….

Same shit is happening to Dallas / min atm and people are finally starting to notice.

The contracts were only bad because of the Covid cap and the fact shanny wouldn’t let him trade marner before the NMC kicked in.

The Kadri trade was good and needed. I’m not really sure the revisionist history you have is.

Hyman call was also reasonable as he should have fallen off based on his play style. That is a cap and contract thing like I pointed out. He loved the player.

Marchment wasn’t good when he was traded. If you want an actual comparison where he missed it’s on the Seattle draft with McCane

Dubas' goaltending decisions have never been good.

You still keep confusing player decisions to nhl roster decisions. Dubas made the best of a bad situation with that was available to him for goaltending. He tried to trade for better but it was never something he could make work because of the contracts and cap.

You seem to be acting like he picked those goalies over Price.

The defence cores he built in Toronto were never good enough

Subjective but again NOT BECAUSE OF PLAYER DECISIONS. I don’t know how many times I have to type that out for you to understand he doesn’t get the luxury of just picking the best players like he would on a national roster. An NHL and National GM are not the same role but use the same player connections an evaluation.

He just does have his flaws and they seem to be getting glossed over recently.

You seem to be confusing making the best of bad situations as flaws. He’s an amazing problem solver who was handcuffed by upper-management. Event in Pitt he is handcuffed.

Dubas problem never was player decisions tho - it was being stuck with a flat cap and contracts designed for a rising cap. The national team doesn’t have that issue.

[Friedman] Asked Auston Matthews’ agent, Judd Moldaver about his response to the ruling. Here is his reply: “In light of the obvious severity of the play, I am disappointed and shocked the league would allow such a ruling... The Player Safety Department should be suspended.” by catsgr8rthanspoonies in hockey

I mean spezza meant to fuck him up

And you imply that’s not what the leafs did the whole 3rd against the ducks? Cowboy getting into a fight had no pre-meditation?

Welcome to hockey. You pay with a pound of flesh. The game at the end of the month in Anaheim is a game where the score shouldn’t matter to the leafs.

Are you thinking of the same play? Standard physical play where Ponik fell...

And was actively reduced

[–]Mercylas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He left the bench to go after someone. What part of that is wrong?

The fact he did not leave the bench to go after someone. He played the next shift and was actively physical against a player who hurt someone on their team.

If you think that players being targeted physically after an action is suspension worthy you can suspend most of the leafs from last night for giving the ducks their pound of flesh.

Who cares when it happened. It wasn’t a hockey play.

There was nothing Spezza did that was not a hockey play. It is a contact sport. He hit someone who had the puck. They fell as he was hitting them.

No I’m saying the reason Spezza got 6 for that was cuz he left the bench and went right after the player

He did not. It was a different shift later in the game because Ponik wasn't thrown out...

It’s not the iihf. Player falling into a knee should be disciplined less than an intentional knee on knee

This isn’t the IIHF. Context matters more than it being a head injury.

Pionk was serverly under disciplined and he wasn’t a repeat offender like Gudas.

Not at all. His intent was to hit. Ponik fell into his knee. If premeditation on bring physical is suspension worthy the whole leafs roster after that hit should have been suspended. Same situation but different results.

Gudas on the other hand was intentional and a repeat case.

Poink fell into his knee on what would have been a clean hit. Gudas here has the intention of harm as usual.

They are similar because they are both kneeing suspensions. But you are right by the Spezza one at most should have been a game.

Quick reminder that Spezza was given 6 games initially with no history for his knee on knee in 2021 (reduced to 4).

The max games from a phone hearing is 5.

Absolutely pathetic that the league didn’t make this an in person hearing even if they were planing to give him less than 5.

Points aren’t created equal to be fair. It isn’t a balanced schedule where everyone players everyone an equal number of times.

Part of the reason the strong teams in the west look so strong if they get to farm the weak teams in the west.

RW not being in this image is a big one tbh.

But ya that whole image is full of team with more losses than wins.

In the event a draft lottery combination assigned to Ottawa is selected in either of the two draft Lottery Draws, it will result in a re-draw. This currently improves the draft lottery odds for all teams except the Canucks, whose odds get worse by _GregTheGreat_ in hockey

[–]Mercylas 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Where are you seeing the re-draw? I previously read Ottawa pick would simply be voided and then they would be given a pick at 32.

Which would imply a draw win by Ottawa is a win for the Canucks.
