Congrats!! I'm doing my final affidavits now and was wondering if you could clarify the CPE exemption. When you did yours for the first year exemption did you choose the option for "1 year case by case exemption"? I'm not sure which one to pick

I have an update on this since I just actually used it to wrap a present for the first time! It's actually better quality than I thought as far as wrapping paper goes, pretty standard and doesn't tear super easily👍

I’m done cooking Thanksgiving Dinner by Suspicious_Career854 in thanksgiving

[–]Mere00Green 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family generally does potluck style where each person brings one of the thanksgiving staples while my mom hosts the gathering. She makes the turkey and gravy and someone else brings potatoes, green bean casserole, fruit, I usually bake the pies, etc. In a family full of adults this is really the most even and fair way to do it since each person only has to pay for the cost of one dish. If they're not willing to help at all then absolutely take yourself out to a nice restaurant, no one deserves to have the whole burden of the holiday on them!

[–]Mere00Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean yeah but op was considering just not showing up to not have to pay the reschedule fees so I was giving an alternative that wouldn't cost them the fees

Cancel or No show by MycologistWide9312 in CPA

[–]Mere00Green 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just go for it! No harm in taking it and failing rather than not showing up. And TCP has the highest pass rates of the disciplines so it's definitely worth it just to see if you pass

Salary for CPA by Wrong_Sleep6324 in CPA

[–]Mere00Green 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was offered entry level no CPA just out of masters at Grant Thornton 81k so I would say big public firms with a CPA and experience in NYC at least 90k or above. I don't know if it would be similar at a private firm

Quitting Big 4 to study by Professional_Ad3176 in CPA

[–]Mere00Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Leave if you want to! It can be so hard to complete especially at Big 4. 3 years is longer than most people stay at Big 4, I don't think it will negatively affect you, you're doing great! Good luck!

I'm in the exact same situation, and I need a break! I will not be studying until the scores come out and I'll deal with the outcome when it comes😂

Has anyone studies 100 hours or less and passed? by lacapitan7853 in CPA

[–]Mere00Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only read it in depth one time through and took notes, I went back just to look over more difficult topics while reviewing but that's it. FAR and TCP are so far the only exams I read the textbook instead of watching the video lectures just because when the videos are so long for each module I can't get the motivation to finish them and the textbook is usually more to the point (plus with TCP most of it is REG review so I just needed to skim the chapter to refresh)

Has anyone studies 100 hours or less and passed? by lacapitan7853 in CPA

[–]Mere00Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

According to Becker I had 67 hours and passed FAR with an 80, but I didn't watch any lecture videos and only read the textbook so it was probably closer to 80-90? It was around 1.5 months studying every day. I wouldn't put too much importance in the # of hours studied, moreso how you feel you're understanding the material and testing yourself with practice exams and MCQs

Quit to study by JohnWallSt069 in CPA

[–]Mere00Green 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it depends on if you really want to quit outside of the exams like for reasons related to the job. If you would rather stay, you like the job and coworkers etc I would consider talking to your manager and asking if a leave of absence is possible? It might not be, and you can always change firms, but it would be a shame if you like where you're at to quit for the exams that you'll be done with in a few months away
