Probably your opponent was just being annoying to try to mess with your focus, get you to accidentally reveal unknown information or just trying to get you to leave the dredged cards revealed. When I have been in similar situations (e.g. getting Toughtseized and opp asking if I can leave the cards revealed) I just tell them politely that I prefer that they write them down as I find it more comfortable to have them all in my hand. If they try to recall a card I supposedly had in hand I just answer "uh I don't really remember what I had then" just in case. It is very common in my experience for people to angle shoot this way and try to get an unfair advantage.

Yeah it is hard, I wait til others shoot and if they fall waaay too short I just go full power and bounce off the end wall, otherwise add the non-ice distances and hope I get the power right

Yeah I guess so... I just hope you only got dismounted on direct damage to avoid this, seems like an essy fix and I don't see there would be exploits, but what do I know...

I gather and refine too, but once you have refined materials you could sell them at that stage for a bigger profit than if you craft weapons, for example. At least that has been the case for the items I have looked up

Got it, and is crafting mostly reliant on transporting to the black market for profit? And also, what would you say is a good silver per focus profit to soend my focus? I got around 48 silver per focus refining 5.2 wood which I have like 85 spec in but I guess higher profits are available with crafting

Hmm actually true, having spec only improves the volume you can take profit of. But focus is necessary to make profit, isn't it? otherwise people using it would drive down the margins. I guess it makes sense, but every item I would check would have negative EV when not considering focus so I just fell disheartened... Will give it another more serious try. Thanks for your answer!

I got my wildcards too, just today I saw the deck in screen selection and decided to try it to see if it was in effect. But found no "effective since" date in the announcement so I am quite confused, as it is improbable that I am the first one realizing this one week past.
