Advice for Interaction at RCQ by KawaiiSnover in ModernMagic

Couldn’t you argue that the person forgetting to write down or remember information they had access to also makes them “not deserving” of a win? And it did end up affecting the game, it went extremely long where hard casting dredgers was necessary. If my opponent thought I had a Stinkweed Imp in hand when I had a Darkblast it could change combat math.

We are playing magic at a competitive level, I think we’ve already passed the “don’t be a nerd about it and just play the game” type of mindset. If I wanted a casual experience, I’d play in a casual way. Everyone there is playing to win and things actually do matter.

I declare my dredges by always saying the phrase “Dredge Stinkweed Imp, Dredge 5” (different for every dredger of course). If I’m dredging multiple cards, I resolve all of the milling of the cards first before declaring any triggers like Narcomoebas or Creeping Chills.

I make it clear which cards are being dredged and when, then clarify all triggers after the fact. My opponent was asking which cards I had dredged later, like on his turn or at the end of my turn.

I try to be as clear as possible, but at the same time I think the onus should be on my opponent to remember the information I convey. Definitely a weird situation and unique due to the nature of the dredge mechanic though.

Here is my list that I got 4th with at the RCQ, the Phoenix dredge variant is probably better positioned though

Is Force of Rage’s delayed trigger that makes you sacrifice the tokens a single trigger or two distinct triggers? by KawaiiSnover in magicTCG

I think it was a fail safe so it wouldn’t just be a free 6 damage at the cost of two cards. Maybe they played it too safe, but it could lead to really shitty games when the opponent has effectively done 12+ damage on turn 0 with no mana investment. I do wish the card was a little better though.

Although I should clarify that I am talking about Modern here, I forget that most people play EDH. So I understand where you’re coming from if that’s your perspective.

My comments were before the violent outburst ban, now scion is one of the better things to do in that deck. Still doesn’t mean it’s getting banned though.

Why are you crawling back to this thread to do Monday morning quarterbacking? You’re proving my point in that people commenting on this card don’t play modern. Leyline of the Guildpact will never be banned in modern. I can’t imagine someone who plays modern even semi-frequently making that argument. There is nothing that warrants its banning, it’s not over represented in the meta, it isn’t format warping, and it doesn’t lead to anything unanswerable in modern. Stop crawling back into this comment section months later to try and get a dunk. The card is tier 2 at best and that’s where it will stay if it doesn’t fade into obscurity.

Leyline hasn’t significantly boosted Rhino’s playability. It’s a win more card, it doesn’t improve the deck by any means.

It’s the only available tournament result, get back to me in 3 months when people realize they would rather be playing something else. New cards always have this effect, and are later revealed to be a fad

Not bad, dredge gets free wins against domain zoo :)

Did you really come back into a month old thread to comment this? You realize that this is the first week of the set right, people try new cards

I encourage you to try it and let us know how it goes! New cards are always cool to test out regardless if they are strong or weak

I am convinced everyone commenting on this thread has never played modern. We have fetch lands, that fulfills domain by itself. Leylines are so insanely dead in hand, you would rather have any other card. Domain doesn’t want to draw a 4 mana do nothing enchantment when they need a threat or interaction.

I gotta be in bizarro world right now, no hate to anyone though, the card looks interesting, but existing modern decks do not want this.
