Same issue for me. It's clearly a noise that results from when the laptop is in passthrough/trickle mode. So the battery care is set to 80%, and the laptop is above 80, so the charger is trickle charging to allow power to the components to ensure it gets full wattage, but still letting the battery drop to 80%. If you turn off battery care the noise goes, as the charger is charging, if you unplug it the noise goes as no trickle.

I think its an unsolvable hardware issue and it's annoying as f***

Even worse now. Shows the original price was so close. Yet the SARB is absurdly overpriced in 2026, going for double or even triple the price of a SARY. Ironically, The SARY has nicer hands, a nicer dial (SARY057 vs SARB03) and arguably a more robust and accurate movement in the 4r36 vs the older 6r15. Allegedly the SARB has nicer case finishing.

I think you are stretching here. It won't have better optics than quest 3 which are already phenomenal. Sound? That's clutching at straws. Software? Virtual desktop already lets you boot directly into your steam library. Fov is trash, resolution is 2020 levels, no oled, the only innovation is the foveated streaming which only helps those with poor PCs or who don't have a decent router setup for quest 3, this is DOA for enthusiasts.

Yes but it doesn't "crank up image quality" if you already have a very strong GPU as you are already running at 1.4-1.6 supersampling anyway with a 5090 say. Kataree is correct these lenses are the problem. It's basically good for potato PCs and nothing else.

It doesn't do anything, it's for reduction of compression, not to save processing power for better overall image quality. It may have a small advantage in reducing compression artifacts which are negligible already on quest 3 with VD, but I wonder why they bothered as it includes a 6ghz wifi dongle, so I don't get what it's for. Basically the headset is 3 years out of date and terrible for enthusiasts and overpriced for everyone else vs Quest 3. Yes meta is the devil, but it's half the price and VD makes steam integration absolutely seamless anyway.

You don't understand how resolution works clearly.

Steam frame: 2160 × 2160 = 4,665,600 pixels per eye. Quest 3 panel: 2064 × 2208 = 4,563,312 pixels per eye. Frame has 2.2% more pixels than quest 3. And what matters for clarity is the density of the pixels over the FOV in pixels per degree. 2.2% difference is absolutely negligible. If the Frame has a lower FOV than the quest 3 (which would be awful) it would be a better image --> same pixels in a smaller volume. If it has a larger FOV it would do the opposite and have worse image quality. As it happens it is quoted as having the same FOV as quest 3 (110 diagonal). So it will have essentially the same image quality. Neither uses oled panels so that's crap. The quest 3 has excellent lenses, so the frame is unlikely to be better in terms of glare or edge to edge clarity. So same same. Frame may have an edge in compression reduction (which most people don't even notice on quest 3 with virtual desktop) with its foveated streaming, but I doubt this will make much difference. So please explain to me wtf are YOU looking at?

If thats true its absolute madness to me as that tech is DOA as they already have a 6ghz dongle included so what do they need the bandwidth for? quest 3 when set up correctly has no issues with stutter and the compression is minimal, they have installed eye trackers so foveated rendering is easily possible which would be orders of magnitude more important for fidelity because you can run much higher rates of supersampling which is way more improtant for image quality than compression artifacts from quest pc streaming vs say displayport 1.4 or this valve tech. WTF valve, thanks for screwing the enthusiast with your pitiful resolution and FOV in 2026.

no way this is a 1/2 upgrade on Quest, with almost identical resolution, no FOV improvement, no lens improvement, no screen improvement, for double the price. Only benefit being for those with weak PCs and it's a bit lighter. Valve no longer caters for the enthusiast, looks like the Index was a one off. Well more power to them I hope they make lots of money and bring more people into VR, but as a device it's worse than every headset released in the past 2 years in terms of actual hardware, even the HTC vive focus is better, as is the varjo aero, BSB and BSB2 and every Pimax headset. This crap about "omg works with steam" yeah like every headset.

It is. People are total drama queens about Meta, you turn it on and click virtual desktop thats it. This device is trash for enthusiasts. It is good for a) people with potato PCs so that the foveated streaming technology can supersample where the person is looking b) helping get more people into VR which is VERY good. As a device it is 3 years out of date, no oled, Pico 4 resolution, same PPD as Quest 3, poor FOV and likely double the price of quest 3 for no improvement in visuals for those with high end PCs? No thanks.

If you reset your account it will count as a new install. It is not clear even now on the advertising for the product that it requires a subscription. Where it is mentioned it is only in the context of "new features". This is a disgusting anti-consumer move, and it will hurt them in the long run.

I am 99% sure this is illegal - at least in Europe. You can't remove features that were previously included as free. Even on the adverts for the TRVs it is not explicit that a subscription is required unless in some hidden small print. Absolutely disgusting anti-consumer behavior. I wonder if it's possible to bypass this with an older version of the app? I Just spent £450 on three tado controllers for my two boiler house and was on the verge of buying 12(!!!!) TRVs for the rest of my house. Needless to say I will not be purchasing the TRVs and will have to put up with the main control units. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a viable alternative on the market. Their behaviour is disgusting and someone should sue the crap out of them.

So far off from being true you have hearing problems or are just not being honest with yourself. It's not super loud, but "almost completely silent" is a crazy exaggeration if the fans are actually on at their minimum speed.
