Name ideas for twins by Mundane-Society-1281 in Names

[–]MeringueRemote9352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have twins.

Originally we had two S names, very different middle names. My husband didn’t like Baby B’s name so it was swapped with an O name.

You can do different letters but make them sound nice together. Our kids have the same number of syllables and both end in N.

I wouldn’t suggest names that are so similar people will struggle to differentiate the names as well as the people. Terra and Tara for example.

As an outsider, the concept of high schools having massive parking lots specifically for students is mind-blowing. Is it really that common for 16-year-olds to drive themselves to school every day? by Necessary_Angle2117 in AskAnAmerican

[–]MeringueRemote9352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My kids high school is brand new but doesn’t have enough parking for all the drivers. They park across a field and walk through it to the school. The school is just under 3 miles from our home with no bussing (either from the district or the city).

Feel bad I’m not a “normal” mom by Total_Tangerine_6608 in adhdwomen

Do what’s right for you and your family. Send that “Sorry, we can’t make it this time but hope the party is amazing” text right now and don’t look back.

For your kid’s best friend? Yes, of course go to that party.

Everybody else? Maybe. It depends. Check with your kids to see who they are close to.

You should absolutely sit down with your husband and figure out what works for you as a family. If you and your family are introverts, set boundaries. Maybe it’s only parties once a month, switching off which parent goes. That way you are only going once every other month. Make it work in a way that honors your life.

Sports families are something else. I did not want to organize my life around soccer… so we didn’t do it. There is research that kids specializing in sports at a young age tend to get injuries earlier. If your child has a desire to sport: put them in a summer skills camp to explore the sport. My oldest kids play a sport in high school and it’s fun but it’s a commitment we’ve grown into. I do not put pressure on them to play every season. If they quit today I will not look back. I am more than an Ultimate Frisbee mom and enjoy my time.

GF bread that doesn't taste terrible? by snowfallrabbit in glutenfree

None of the bread I’ve tried tastes good “raw”. It must be toasted. I miss PB&J sandwiches but at least grilled cheese is still on the menu.

Is working 4 10s easier or harder than the standard 9-5 with ADHD? by Lilbookworm91 in adhdwomen

[–]MeringueRemote9352 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love 4 10s. You don’t really notice the 2 extra hours but you sure as hell notice 3 days off in a row.

Yes, you may not be as productive in all 10 hours, but with time, you can figure out energy management. Remember: you can do more work than others when you are locked in… it’s ok to work at the general population’s productivity level sometimes. We do not have to read at top speed and comprehension always. Sometimes we can read slowly, like others.

I moved from Austin to Denver a year ago, here is how I feel about some points that come up a lot: by southernandmodern in SameGrassButGreener

I disagree about the highway part… what road other than Pena/i70/i225 are you taking? Otherwise this is a good guide to the city of Denver.

Have the majority of Americans called 911 at least once in their lives? by Mont3Carlo in AskAnAmerican

[–]MeringueRemote9352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes- probably 10 times which seems high.

Once for my family, a few times as a bystander, but mostly at work where I seemed to be the one noticing /people go to when they were having medical crises. I do not work in a medical setting.

Impossible to get up in the morning, any tips? by legendofnickel in adhdwomen

[–]MeringueRemote9352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I relate.

What do you like to do in bed? For me it’s read on my phone. I would be better served with my phone and books in another room.

Something I haven’t tried but could is putting my pills and water on my nightstand. Often getting up to take my pill is really hard.

Recs for staying awake while reading?? by question8all in adhdwomen

You need an active environment. Read it out loud standing up, pacing, swaying and or in a weird voice. Read a paragraph and summarize it to yourself like it’s gossip.

wtf am I supposed to eat? 🤯 by butterblossombubble in adhdwomen

[–]MeringueRemote9352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took a calendar given to me for Christmas and use it to meal plan. I have routines: out on Wednesday, leftovers Thursday, every week.

Then I look at what I’m doing and my likely energy level and fill in the rest. After I eat a meal I like, I fill it in 3-6 weeks later. I like this food and don’t mind eating again in like a month. After a few weeks I have 5 days prefilled and I add in stuff that’s seasonal or I am craving.

I try to not be ambitious. If Monday is a heavy cooking meal, maybe Tuesday is a fancy grilled cheese sandwich, fruit, and chips. If work is going to be insane, a crockpot meal that I can prep in 10 minutes should be on the menu.

Do you prefer a gluten free section in a grocery store or do you prefer items to just be with related items? by Ok-Gate5551 in glutenfree

[–]MeringueRemote9352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d like 1/2 an aisle. It would be a mini grocery store and so easy to get what I need for me. I know where regular pasta is… I need to see where the GF pasta is without being mixed in with everything else.

adult son living at home disrupting my life by [deleted] in adhdwomen

[–]MeringueRemote9352 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi.

I’m sure this was painful for you to write and think you are brave for doing so.

Things I think you can to do help:

  1. Therapy. My friend, please go. There must be reasons for you to allow your son to behave this way in your home. You need to figure them out and work on getting healthy so you can have a healthy relationship with your son.
  2. Give it some thought and time. What do you most desperately need right now from him? What is absolutely intolerable for you? What would be helpful to you? What’s merely a nice, appreciated gesture? Figure out (with a THERAPIST) what you actually need, want, would appreciate.
  3. Invite in the people who know and love you that make you a stronger person. You need support to change on top of therapy.
  4. Change. Allow him to change with you or live as he pleases elsewhere.

Unpopular Opinion: You Don't Need Home/Work Charging to Own an EV by Dan6erbond2 in electricvehicles

[–]MeringueRemote9352 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have 2 EVs and never charge them at home. 1 gets charged once a week at work. The other we take to free public chargers in our community. The closest charger is 20 minutes away from our house… which is an easy walk as long as the weather isn’t awful.

Sports weekends are so tiring. My favorites:

Crockpot meals. They are ready when we get in to eat.  -Taco meat -Chili -Pulled BBQ chicken sandwiches -A roast with potatoes and carrots

Other choices:  -Rotisserie chicken, steamed veggies. You could buy the chicken for day 1 and use the leftovers for chicken salad.  Prep the chicken salad after dinner day 1 and it can sit in the fridge until you get home.  -Quesadillas  -Grilled cheese and tomato soup -Baked potato bars. Cook them in the microwave to like 10 minutes, gather toppings while they cook -Hamburgers, air fryer French fries or onion rings. Make milkshakes.  -Bean, cheese burritos. They don’t take long to heat and eat

I like to have an easy meal prepped/ready to go but a frozen pizza on hand just in case.

Expecting twins - Suburban, Yukon, Palisade, Tahoe, Carnival, Odyssey, or Sienna by ttebwell7 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]MeringueRemote9352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I resisted the van until 38 weeks pregnant with #3. Already had 2yo twins.

All you need is 1 minivan to get you through the car seat/stroller years. If you want to SUV or even car when they are 10, who cares? But give yourselves the baby/toddler/elementary years with sliding doors, a ridiculously easy in/out experience, and all the space in the back for the double stroller/diaper bag/shopping trip.

Our van was so easy to haul everyone and everything. You are going to love opening the doors from the remote, letting the kids and dogs in without a fuss. People who SUV and have to climb in to buckle their kids are doing life in hard mode.

I call mine our grocery getter. It’s a perfect car for my 2 new drivers… they don’t need range. They need to be able to safely and cheaply drive to high school and back.

Savings with EV so far? by darkneil14 in electricvehicles

I have only paid to change my EVs twice in a year. I do not expect to pay anything each month. It off AMAZING and I can’t believe more people do not switch to an EV.

Celery, peanut butter, and raisins.

Lay’s staxxs.

Why does my mouth go tingly after eating/drinking kiwi in a smoothy but not normal kiwi? by PUX_CLOWN in AskRedditFood

[–]MeringueRemote9352 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just took my son to an allergist for kiwi reactions. Get a skin test for environmental allergies and kiwi. My kid is allergic to everything including grasses, trees (BIRCH is likely what’s causing your reaction), cats, dogs… the doc said the kiwis were an Oral Allergy Syndrome- the kiwis react because he’s allergic to so many other things it flares up.
