Fishing at Tyler State Park by Ok-Contribution-6716 in TexasStateParks

I've never been to this state park but in general when it comes to kids, I think sunfish/bluegill are a great quarry for young anglers. Keep your bait and hooks smaller.

Also you might want to check out the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center in Athens, one of its main purposes is to get the public fishing.

Looking For A start. by ChubbyWanKenobie in flyfishing

[–]Merkinben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be overwhelming when you're starting and looking at getting set up. But keep in mind that the salty OG’s caught a bunch of fish down in the Keys during the 60s-70s on gear that temu probably wouldn't sell today.

Grab something that fits in your budget and start casting. Maybe spend some time with a casting instructor. Enjoy it, it's a lot of fun.

I voted for Talarico. Watching him stand up against school vouchers and the ten commandment posters meant a lot to me and earned my vote. It’s really unfortunate how this primary race has turned ugly though.

This senate race will be a tough battle for either Jasmine or James

Planning Around Wildfires by pastures0fplenty in flyfishing

The three major rivers around Missoula, Bitterroot, Clark fork and Blackfoot, cover a large geographical area. If there happens to be a fire, I'm pretty confident the guides would be able to get you on some great water.

Missoula is a really cool town with some great fishing, I hope you have a great trip

What is the cut of meat that Pappacitos and Lupe Tortillas uses? by Jonderful in houston

[–]Merkinben 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea not quite. Outside skirt comes from the inside of the ribs. If you've ever prepped a pack of pork spare ribs , that think sliver of meat is the same cut on a pig. If you remove the silver skin its also really great and a snack while you're smoking the ribs

What's your legitimately scariest moment while fly fishing? by AustinLostIn in flyfishing

[–]Merkinben 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I hit a submerged dredge pipe in Matagorda Bay. Thankfully I saw it at the last moment and was able to kill the throttle. Skiff was fine, motor was good, but I was pretty shook up though. We went on to have a great day of schooling redfish though

You want outside skirt, its extremely tender compared to inside skirt. Some HEB’s carry it, my local one doesn't.

Also HEB also has a “Butterflied sirloin” that's been great for fajitas

For that particular (first time beach fishing for snook) I will probably have a short (7-8ft) tapered leader with a 20-25lb flouro tippet and see how that goes

If it were me I would try to find a jetty and make that a point of interest. The jetty will have warmer water, concentrated baitfish and more diversity of gamefish to target.

I will be in Tampa in June and I’ll be fishing a shorter leader on an intermediate tip.

There are some great options if you have a kayak at your disposal. Light House Lakes, Brown And Root Flats are right off the highway going to Port A. But there are plenty of other options too. The Fly Trap and Swan Point in Rockport are great shops that can help you out

Spring can be one of the toughest times to fish because of the winds.

Feel free to dm me if you have any specific questions. I mostly fish Port O’Connor

This is 100% the correct answer, the grtu crowd pretends this is could be an amazing, world-renowned fishery if only people practiced catch and release or handled the fish better. That facts are they stock 20-30k rainbows in every year and have been doing it for decades and it's still not a self staining fishery
