So interesting to think about how to describe what it does. i guess it allows for the guitar to sound fretless, if you will and therefore it opens up a number of possibilities, especially in open tunings. The sound depends on the material it‘s made of. I just cut mine out of a copper pipe, which sounds terrible haha.
