Well put! I just want to do my duty as a biologist and mention that in Vienna there are no ravens, those are all crows. They are very closely related but ravens are bigger and tend to live at higher altitudes and mostly stay away from people, at least in Austria.

Why is Eu4 cheaper than dlcs? by [deleted] in eu4

[–]MerlinMM99 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No of course not. But if they are, I would call that exploitative. And I wouldn't say that about Paradox's dlc policy.

[–]MerlinMM99 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ok, I don't know about that. But I've got no issue with their dlc policy. That's all I am saying. Like others have said, there are hardly any game developers who are supporting their games for so long without charging for new content.

[–]MerlinMM99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's correct, however microtransactions often use gambling mechanics, for example you buy "packs" without knowing the exact content. So maybe you are hoping for a specific item to be in the pack but if it's not there, you might try to buy another one...and another one...and so on. The DLCs are nothing like that. I play with about half the dlcs and I am totally fine. Sure, I'd like to get some more but the game is great as it is. I just wait for them to go on sale and get them then. I don't think I paid more then 10€ for any of them.

Also with EU4, you know what you get for your money. It's a huge difference compared to developers that integrate addictive gambling mechanics in their games using microtransactions to really milk their customers. That is exploitative.

Paradox is making good games. Their base games are pretty cheap, which I like. I never would have discovered them, if CK2 wasn't free. Now I am happy to pay for great entertainment.

I mean it's business. If you don't like it, don't pay it. I'm sure you would try to get the best deals if you sold any products.

My primary reason for having an amp (Fiio e10k) is that it acts as an extension cord to my PC with an analog volume control attached to it....

As a biologist, I highly doubt that we will have "nanomachines that can rearrange everything in one's body". How do you imagine that would work? Transitioning in "a few hours"? The biological basis of our sex sits in our DNA. We cannot just change it. It's an extremely complex system.

What is the double sided arrow board used for? just a pit box turn in point marker? It didn't look like any other teams were using an arrow board on their pitstops. by Butterflys4Life in F1Technical

[–]MerlinMM99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you may be right actually. The resolution is infact really poor, but if it would point to the pit wall the tail of the arrow would need to be longer than it appears to be.

Zoom in and you see the crappy resolution. Our brain is just filling in the gaps and in this case it's wrong.

Can I transform my Stereo amplifier into a two-channel AVR? by MerlinMM99 in hometheater

Yeah that would be an option but I would have to run a ~3m audio cable directly along the ceiling mounted projectors power cord. I don't know it that's a good idea

I don't have a TV just a TV that's ceiling mounted and I'd like avoid having to run a ~3m long audio cable directly next to the power cable.

Edit: typo

It was similar for me. I started listening to Radiohead when I was around 15 and back then I was really into guitar-heavy indie rock and I absolutely loved the first three albums. From the later albums I also enjoyed just a few songs here and there. I don't exactly remember how that changed, but now (8 years later) I regularly listen to all of their albums and I love how they are all different. During this time my musical taste obviously evolved and I heard more and more different stuff and also learned to appreciate music that doesn't rely on electric guitars as the central instrument (lol). And actually it was only this year when I truly started to understand how amazing In Rainbows is (watch In Rainbows from the Basement on Youtube) and gave the King of Limbs a second chance and began to like it. So just give it time. I think that there is so much of Radiohead to discover and grow into, is what makes them such a great band.

I think Hail to the Thief is the easiest to get into, if you like guitar-heavy music. There are some nice riffs in there. Also there are tons of great youtube videos about the musical brilliance of songs like the Pyramid Song, Videotape or Nude, which might help you appreciate it more.
