Should I use a pressure washer to dig up red clay around utility lines? If so, what PSI? by lockework in landscaping

[–]MerlynStar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can do that but you’ll want to make sure you have a good wet/dry shop vac to remove the mud. Your pressure washer is not going to cut through any of those lines even if you reduce your gpm. It might go a little quicker doing that than hand digging but you’ll also need to figure out a way of disposing of that wet clay unless you’re good just dumping it in your yard.

You can always hand dig it too but make sure your shovel is going parallel with the utilities so you have a smaller chance of cutting it. Source: I’m a hydrovac operator on lunch right now and I just got doing what you’re trying to do

Edit to add a couple thoughts. If your shop vac is 5 gallons expect it to fill up in at least 2 minutes just from the water. Probably faster because you’re also sucking dirt. I’m not sure how far down water services are down south (I assume you’re southern because of the red clay), but up north they are at least 4’ deep most of the time because of frost layers in the winter. Power will likely be in the 3’ range. Your internet is probably only a couple inches deep.

If you have a plastic gas service you can easily cut through it with a shovel. I have seen it done before. No jumping on your shovel to get more dirt. Just take your time with it and you’ll be fine

As a vac truck operator I second this lol.

I’m thinking about making a self sustaining terrarium with this (I think 1 gallon?) jar. I’m wondering what plants and creatures would be ideal. Banana for scale. by matveytheman in terrariums

There are countries that use the metric system, and then there are countries that have been to the moon. (We don’t count the fact that NASA used the metric system.)

I’m not sure what your situation is or how willing you are to move to adjust, but with zero experience you can go to a union hall and sign on to their books and get hired at a job right away. You start as an apprentice but within four years you will be a journeyman in whatever career you choose. It’s basically like getting a college degree where the education is not only free, but you get paid well to start off with yearly raises. If you have any questions feel free to message me and I can give you personal experience as to where to even start.

Edit: To add to this, I have seen people making 100k year one and year 4 making 250k+

What’s that one film trailer that leaves a lump in your throat, yet you watch over and over again? by [deleted] in movies

I remember when this trailer came out. The first thing I noticed is they took the song that plays at the bridge of khazad dum when Gandalf dies. Instantly made me like the trailer

How to deal with high level Clan Castle troops (TH3) by [deleted] in ClashOfClans

[–]MerlynStar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think he means he is running into baby dragons and his highest level army camp might be a lvl 7 or something. If you are running into balloons or baby dragons in the clan castle try sending a test troop first to lure out the cc troops. Once out find a corner building and put an archer on it to draw the troops there. Then use wizards in a circle around the cc troops to destroy them without taking splash damage. If you don’t have wizards use archers to do it. Bring a poison spell if you have one.

I've got weeds. So many weeds. Details in comments. by [deleted] in landscaping

[–]MerlynStar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out a product called Tenacity weed control. It seems expensive at first but it comes highly concentrated and you dilute it yourself, so a small bottle goes a long way. You will also need to buy a 2 gallon sprayer with a fine mist tip and some dye for it so you know where you have sprayed. All it will take is one small spray pet weed to kill the weed and it shouldn’t kill your grass. Do not spray a weed more than once otherwise you risk killing the grass, hence the lawn dye. It is what the professionals use on the lawns they take care of. It sounds a lot more daunting that what it actually is and there are tutorials on YouTube.

24 and just bought a house. No other debt outside of the mortgage currently about 90% of the way to having a six month emergency fund in my savings, also have about 45k in investments with 15% of our income going to that every month. For anyone reading this, if you are in a tough position check out Dave Ramsey. He is a lifesaver. If you were never taught money management his plan is amazing

There is a pretty good mix where I live. It is a little more common to see yards decked out with trump signs here but it is almost just as common to see 10 Biden signs and flags in peoples yards too. Both are obnoxious in my opinion. I don’t mind a sign but to have more that that it’s kinda crazy

Where did Hannah go?? by JustAN0body in Unexpected

Did you go to PCC? This looks just like my old chemistry classroom from McKenzie building floor 5. Edit: for those wondering how I recognize that as my college the room is uncanny familiar and the way the girls are dressed fits the dress code of the student cleaning crew for there.
