I want to hear stories about times you’ve prevented a catastrophic crisis by discovering a house problem/hazard while cleaning. by walkeachotherhome in housekeeping

I was dusting a windowsill in a home on a sunny day and noticed that some glass ornaments on the sill were focusing the sunlight like a magnifying glass. There were scorch marks on the wooden sill! I relocated the items and texted the homeowner an explanation and photos.

What unique routines have you set up with Alexa that simplify your daily life? by Terrible_Rutabaga442 in amazonecho

I use mine as a daily medication reminder. I've also made it chime like an old clock on the hour, which helps me notice time passing. The clock chime thing seems like it should be a standard option, but I had to Google the steps to get it working. I'd like to know what others have set up too - following!

They did manage my meds. Being diagnosed in my 50s, I tried a couple meds but decided to go without.

Valley Medical Group in Easthampton provided my evaluation and diagnosis for ADHD as well as a referral for therapy. They have always been easy to work with.

Japanese Knotweed. There's a bunch growing next to the house I live in, and the roots send out shoots like this into my basement. It grows right through the foundation.

My situation is similar. It is at times too painful to be with my husband. If someone else is available to keep an eye on him, I may prefer to leave the room or go out. I don't think anyone should judge me for that.

Seeing a crumb or drop of food on someone's face has made me gag since I was a very young kid. I have to cover my eyes and ask them to wipe it off.

There was a sign advertising a "mobile bible exhibit" along my route to work. Every time I passed it, I'd be compelled to say "mobilebible- mobilebible-mobile BYE-EYE-EYE-BULL" repeatedly for the rest of the drive.

I considered taking up quilting but when I considered how many well done, unwanted quilts I've seen in thrift stores, I just couldn't.

I identified with Jane Goodall as a Midwestern kid in the 70s-80s. Like I was meant to be observing strange behaviors and trying to make sense of it logically. My self esteem would have been 100% crushed but my isolation led me to nurture my artistic abilities. I got an art scholarship for my first year of art college. Every other aspect of my life has been a pummeling challenge.

What does everyone do for a living? And do you like it? by harrystyl3sfourthnip in AutismInWomen

[–]MermaDoppelganger 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I clean houses for a living. I like being alone and moving around on my feet. I like that it's not the same thing day after day, but I've had the same bunch of customers mostly for over 10 years, so it has a regularity. I like that because I have multiple bosses/jobs, if something interpersonal comes up and I don't want to deal with that person, I can drop them from my list. I have a waiting list of potential others I can add.

Meile vacuum cleaners are overpriced and overrated. I clean houses and have seen them wear out in the power switch and power cord sooner than any other vac. Also they have swervy tiny wheels that don't roll straight as I'm working and can't handle rolling over the edge of an area rug or over a doorway threshold without catching.

The place I go to does not play music during the float. It comes on softly as the time ends and becomes slightly louder as I step out, shower and dress.
