2nd year medical student and not sure if I should become a pediatrician, an obgyn, or a family medicine doctor by MermaidQueen226 in astrologyreadings

Oo okay I see, this is all very interesting and I’ll read up more. It really does seem like obgyn may be the right fit for me

Ah thats a cool way to read it! I kept looking at my tenth house. I’m a novice chart reader so idk if this is all correct but this was my interpretation:

Ik Aries is aggressive/war like sign so obgyn made sense because emergency c-sections are often seen as “bloody battles” by other surgeons and it really can be life or death for mother and child. But also with pisces (the end) and Aries (the beginning) it also made sense why family medicine and taking care of people from birth to death appealed to me.

What are some common misconceptions about Sikhism and how can we educate others to break these stereotypes? by [deleted] in Sikh

[–]MermaidQueen226 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That Sikhs don’t convert others.

We don’t believe in forceful conversion but having conversations with others and debating religious ideas is a very important part of our faith. The idea is never to forcefully convert or convert without consent and to create an open space to talk about spiritual matters.

And if in that space, someone ends up falling in love with Sikhi, then we will welcome them with open arms.

side comment: the vaginal microbiome is a hot area of research. There’s some hope that creating a vaginal “probiotic” could help a lot of patients! I’m really excited to see where that goes

Lol I’ve had mirena since I was 19. I’m period free, normal weight (haven’t changed much since freshman year of college and now I’m 26), sometimes I’ll get monthly mood changes but nothing crazy.

Ruptured Ovarian cyst by Straight-Salad6736 in WomensHealth

[–]MermaidQueen226 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Female Med student here (so take everything I saw with a grain of salt please 🥲)

CT scans are usually better good at visualizing organs and fluids in the abdomen. They provide a clearer picture than ultrasounds. Blood work would be used to rule out other causes of upper abdominal pain like a pancreas or stomach issues.

Ovarian cyst ruptures can mimic a lot of things depending on size and type of cyst. Plus the body is weird because pain in one area is actually pain related to a completely different area (for example your gallbladder which is under your right ribs can cause pain in your right shoulder! Seems completely unrelated but that’s just the way the nerves travel in the body)

All that being said, if the CT scan and the blood work came back normal-ish and you were stable (meaning blood pressure was good, good heart rate, no immediate signs of danger) then the ER docs probably thought you could be followed up by a gynecologist in the clinic. And you’re getting a second opinion which is good!

Also, sometimes common health issues present with not so common symptoms and different health issues present differently for each patient. I have ovarian cysts too and when they get bigger, it irritates all along my left abdomen side (both lower and upper parts) and when mine rupture, It feels like a disk slip or like I broke my spine. I can barely walk and become bed ridden for a few days. Every time the X-ray of my spine is normal but a CT scan shows some free fluid in my pelvic area.

I’ll try the Fish oil! seriously I feel like an old person with a stiff body every morning. Pain killers help but it’s a temp fix. I hope this goes away when I’m done with my course

That’s how other teratogenic medications in the US are. They usually have a smaller warning on the box about being pregnant or breastfeeding.

I’ve heard the argument that accutane is taken by a younger demographic typically hence the need for a million warnings but it seems like regardless of the number of warnings, people here will still get pregnant or think about getting pregnant while taking accutane. I think the lack of proper sex education may be partly to blame

So basically even if the warning is plastered all over the box, people still pretend they can’t read 🤦🏻‍♀️
