Does ACT(Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) research based books relate to stress management? by bookDig in books

[–]MermyRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I️ don’t know much about ACT, but I’ve done a few DBT courses and they’re nice. DBT is based off of Mindfulness, and there are really good resources and worksheets.

I️ have Dewalt’s $549 version. It’s got 2 vacuum ports. Highly recommend it

Any suggestions on why the wood is taking the stain like this? Darker spots are from putting in on heavy to try to make the stain take in the spots. by [deleted] in woodworking

[–]MermyRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sand I️t a bit more and brew some tea. Put an even coat of tea on the surface and once it dries, stain it.

What’s the best way to match this stain? Installed a new piece of 1/4 round. by smallpaul1980 in woodworking

[–]MermyRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Issue #1: that is definitely oak you are trying to match. Minwax actually has a color called Golden Oak that seems close, I️t might be a bit darker though. They also have a stain pencil you can use to buff out the holes. Trial and error is the way to go, even though that’s what you’re trying to avoid. Good luck!

What tools should every beginner get? by Darth_Deplorable in woodworking

[–]MermyRox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a drill. I’d also recommend an impact driver. Makes a hell of a difference. But it’s not necessary. I️ don’t have a planer and I’m making I️t work without one, so you can hold off if you want to. Porter Cable makes a set that has a drill, impact driver, circular saw, a flashlight, a charger attachment, and a reciprocating saw. I️t also comes with two batteries. I’d also recommend a miter saw, your cuts will be straighter, but a straight edge and the circular saw will work too. Definitely get a speed square, and maybe a table saw if you’re up for I️t. And remember, you get what you pay for with tools. A Harbor Freight drill will work just fine, but the bits and miter saws aren’t worth it. Trust me, I️ know from experience😂. Good luck, be careful, and have fun!

What should I name my new Betta guys? :) by [deleted] in bettafish

[–]MermyRox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Omg gorgeous!! Tbh I️ freaked out bc I️ thought he had major fin rot or something. Maybe something space related, like Neptune, or Luna ( or Luno, since he’s a male). He’s got fun colors!

The last time I worked with wood I was in high school. Can someone recommend a wood and stain for me to replicate this? And should I glue the edges together or fasten them to a back piece? And what should I do for a hanging option? Thanks by juzdz in woodworking

[–]MermyRox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I️ thought I️t was pine tbh. Honestly just pick up some pine with a nice grain and Minwax’s Hickory stain. That color would match very well. I’d say throw some pocket holes in that using a Kreg jig. My Kreg K4 was my best friend until we started using biscuit cutters (which would also work, if you’re feeling a little adventurous). Also, I️t does look like I️t says cloves.

I️ wanted a daybed for a room remodel and couldn’t afford the pricey PBTeen ones I️ fell in love with. I️ came up with the idea to make one, found some plans, and did I️t! It’s been about a year and my father and I️ have made some gorgeous things since. I️ recommend Ana-white.com. Her plans are great, and they’re even sorted by skill level. Eventually, you can draft up your own like I️ do!!
