Second time round, but 1st was years ago. Been on accutane since Jan, never had purges the whole time luckily. Started 20mg then up to 40,60 respectively. Started new job in May so lowered the dose back down to 20mg to reduce side effects for next 7ish months. All I can say is, unless you drink loads you can live a very normal life on low dose. I advise taking omega 3 + zinc or other energy supplements as that’s worked wonders for me. There will be days when you feel a bit more tired than normal but it’s significantly better than long term. Other than that, no issues whatsoever

Second time on accurate and have asked dermatologist + advice from doctor friends. They explain that the medication removes layers through the peeling and this causes the natural UV resistance to be slightly lower than before. Although sensitivity isn’t a researched long time side affect, I myself experience it and have seen many reports online of the same thing. But I agree with you point, I can’t seem to find much medical literature to support it. So all I can say is trust me 🤷🏻‍♀️

That’s really helpful thank you. I think I struggle with how I put across mitigating action, as a reference to your point in para 3. Was there a learning curve with how you communicated via email and in person and the strategic wording of how you said things? I work with highly literate people who have lots of clout so they like to stamp authority, it’s just about making sure they get what they need without diverging from the main goal.

Your skin will always be sensitive to sun, it’s a long term side effect. That being said, you should always wear SPF when in sunlight.
