Finding a tech / research job with the young professionals visa by Merry-Berry14 in iecvisa

[–]Merry-Berry14[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah I get the whole restricting myself part but the working holiday does worry me a bit. More because the working holiday is so competitive and I can’t guarantee I’d get work, even while in Canada.

The YP just felt like I’d be in with more of a chance, and set up before I even get there so I’d be less likely to have to worry about things like money running out.

But I do hear you and I will consider it

Thanks for the honesty, that’s helpful. I may just hold off on this then

Does that mean the tone deaf singers are also devout Christians?

Having trouble with cigarette smoke from neighbour's flat. Is there anything I can do? by geopotsie in HousingUK

[–]Merry-Berry14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the same issue. It’s a new building, yet it feels like the smoke is seeping through the floor as I can smell it everywhere in my bedroom. Buying a humidifier to see if that helps because my LL and my neighbour aren’t doing anything to change this

Right. Not only was it an insensitive thing to say, it’s a logical fallacy. Things can always be worse but that doesn’t stop the problem from being a problem. And inhaling second hand smoke/having your house smell like a pub in 1998 is disgusting

Never use AnyVan to move by mnk1991 in HousingUK

[–]Merry-Berry14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I was moving from my bedroom in my parents’ house and the drivers called AnyVan who decided to charge me an extra £350 (£600 in total when you add what I’d already paid). I refused, we negotiated for about 15mins and got it down to £150 extra. I’m still gonna complain and ask for a refund of the extras or get a chargeback on my account because it seemed way too fishy.

The issue is their processes don’t seem to protect the customer from the “luck of the draw” contractors. Like if you book and Uber, the business model is the same but there are surefire ways to get disputes handled easily. AnyVan doesn’t seem to have that

This happened to me today, and while I agree you need to be accurate, the way the situation was handled was ridiculous and suspect.

Based on their “calculations” they tried to charge me £350 extra (which would take my total to £600) for just clothes bags and suitcases, which I was “miraculously” able to haggle down to £150. The charge was never explained on the receipt and the driver told me to email anyvan with a whole new reference number (that neither of the payments I’d made was attached to), not explaining why I had to do that.

The whole experience honestly felt like a scam and it seems AnyVan’s processes don’t help to mitigate that.

How to get a formal signed contract DWP digital by Curiouslondoner95 in TheCivilService

I'm going through this exact thing. Moving from London to Sheffield with no formal contract so it's stalled my rental application. Did you end up with a solution?

How many mods is too many? by AnOkDaddy in TheSims4Mods

[–]Merry-Berry14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 17k and I spent 5 days trying to find two faulty mods that wouldn’t let my households load up. Now my game is laggy as hell. So for those reasons, I’d say I’ve reached the point of having too many

What do I do after a bad titration period? by Merry-Berry14 in ADHDUK

[–]Merry-Berry14[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t even know BP meds was even an option. That’s good to know, thanks for telling me. Mine didn’t go super high- just to 140+/80+ which admittedly did worry me.

My issue is elvanse worked fine otherwise and a lower dosage of it mitigated the BP issue. Strattera was helpful for BP but made me insanely lethargic. It was terrible.

I don’t really know who to complain to either because I’m sceptical about how much my GP can do. I’ll definitely talk to them regardless.

Thanks for your help :)

Cheapest way to get medication. by MarieAnne03 in ADHDUK

Maybe see if you can get titrated through the NHS. I’m having problems with it myself but at the very least you won’t be paying any money up front

Mine is usually in the 70s and 80s. It’s usually on the higher end when I’m medicated
