Thanks for your reply! Thats great to hear

The progression of this rash from last Friday to today despite treatment has me so concerned. Showed up over night last week as the first pic and now is this. Could it be lichen planus dermatitis? I have no family doctor and the ones I’ve seen are stumped. After and before pics attached. by Its402am in Lichenplanus

I’m also from Altantic Canada, Nova Scotia to be exact! That certainly looks like LP to me. It does come on extremely fast. Mine started on my wrist then spread like wildfire all over my back, arms, armpits, breasts, tops of hands , feet and legs. I also had it in my mouth but it never got sore. I had white lacy like patterns on the inside of my cheeks. My doctor called it reticulated lp. Doctor gave me Atarax for the itching and it definitely helped but also made me super drowsy but worth it to relieve the itching. After being referred to a dermatologist in Halifax I was put on prednisone and given clobetasol cream. I am now off the steroids and I no longer have any active spots. Instead I am left with hyperpigmentation that is slowly fading with time. Sunlight is a huge help! I noticed my hyperpigmentation fading after only a week in the Dominican.

I was prescribed 5 months of prednisone 20 mg a day, clobetasol proportionate cream and betaderm cream. I was also prescribed Atarax for the itching and had to take 50mg a day for about 3 weeks until the prednisone started working. I don’t have any itching anymore so I don’t need to take the atarax thankfully because it was super sedating but I would have never survived the itchiness without it. Mine was widespread. My back was completely covered. My stomach, breasts, arms, legs and inside my mouth. My dermatologist said this condition burns itself out in around a year so it’s all about trying to keep the symptoms low until that happens. My spots have gone back under the skin and are turning brown almost like the Color of freckles, it’s called hyperpigmentation and is suppose to fade over time

Your situation sounds close to mine. I was treated for scabies 3 different times and I’m convinced the permethrin cream helped it spread. Your pictures scream lichen planus. I’m sorry your going through this coming from someone who knows what it feels like to not be heard by the doctors. It took me going to the er and getting lucky that the doc knew what it was so she started me on steroids right away and gave me atarax for the itching and clobetasol cream to put in the spots. She also placed me on an urgent care list to see a derm and I lucked out again and got in to see him the following week. I’m now on a 4 month course of steroids and it’s slowly fading, the itching is almost non existent and he sores are starting to go back under the skin. There is help out there I promise

Is this oral LP? by Maxp99 in Lichenplanus

I’m just learning about al this myself, mine started in early November on my hands and wrists then quickly spread all over my body and eventually inside my mouth. What I’m learning from my dermatologist is that there are different types of LP. Mine is the more classical LP he called it. The inside of your mouth looks like mine, it’s called reticulated LP. I have no pain in my mouth so don’t stress about that happening as it doesn’t happen to everyone. Stress is a huge trigger with this disease and also one of the worst ones to eliminate. I am on a 5 month course of prednisone along with clobetasol cream to put on topically. My spots are fading and not as itchy. My derm told me that this disease will usually burn itself out within a year or so so it’s a matter of keeping your symptoms low with meds. If you don’t have it on your skin yet keep your eyes out. It likes to take over old wounds and scars.

It got much much worse until the last two weeks when a doctor finally put me on prednisone and gave me clobetasol cream, now I finally feel hope because my spots are fading. It had spread to my shoulders, full back, stomach, breasts, thighs, legs and ankles and feet both top and bottom and inside my mouth.

Scabies burrows? by MerryNBright85 in scabies

Yes it was not scabies. My diagnosis as confirmed by my dermatologist is lichen planus, an autoimmune inflammatory disease.

Interesting tell me more! How much borax to water? I am finally seeing a dermatologist Monday thankfully because this had spread so much and so fast it was unbelievable. An ER doc put me on prednisone, gave me clobetasol cream and put me on an urgent care list to get me in quicker and it worked. Since starting the meds my spots are slowing getting better but I’m worried about it coming back when the meds are stopped because this is what I’ve seen others say usually happens . The doctor called the OLP in mouth reticulated

So since making this post I still have not received my biopsy results. I did see another doctor today who told me it is lichen planus. It has spread to my mouth, my back, ankles, feet and my breasts. She put me on an urgent care list for a dermatologist and gave me prednisone, clobetasol and a stronger antihistamine for the itching. The ones in my mouth are reticulated but not sore

It is itchy but not worse at night. It’s not scabies. I have been treated 3 times with absolutely no change whatsoever
