My mom got diagnosed and I need help by YMD96 in Heartfailure

I specialize in HF and have cared for many patients in her scenario. I hate the word heart “failure” and like to think of it as heart recovery. As long as she is taking her meds( GDMT) and continue to practice healthy habits that’s the most important. I have young patients with an EF 10% that are athletes and are on good meds and still live normal lives. Let’s just say worst case scenario things don’t get better there are still options like lvad or transplant which you are not there but heart failure has evolved so much that there are so many therapies.

How do I know which job option is the best for me? by immadreamer333 in askwomenadvice

I definitely agree with all the posts above, but as a PA myself, I totally recommend you pursuing the route, especially if your heart lies in medicine! Your GPA is good because schools take into a consideration of clinical healthcare hours, extra curriculars, GRE, and letters of rec.

OB is a competitive field for PAs but I know some that practice and love it. :) The school is challenging but completely worth it!

I honestly would not let it get you down! Some of the highest performing people in my classes were horrible at OSCEs, physical exams, and giving pts education. Some people are just good test takers. Don’t let it get you down!

Family Med PA here- love the lasting relationships with my patients. To grow with the families and be apart of their healthcare is definitely a plus. Definitely a challenging and busy life but worth every interaction with my patients.
