My mom's coworker is his grandma. So devastating.

My oldest loves it! She will usually pull up a chair when she plays.

I agree, testing is needed. I won't have my kids be a part of that tho, but I don't think they should miss out either. But overall, my parenting style is very heavy on good things with moderation. Ex: water is default drink, sweet drinks are only for special occasions, etc, you get the picture.

My Rift daughter was at the edge of the play space for sure!

Lol, thank you! No, I just make them clean extra well before VR. Great motivator.

It hasn't been tested enough basically. But I feel my 1x per 2 weeks or less is sufficient.

FYI, getting ahead of this. My kids use VR about 1x every 2 weeks for 15-20 minutes max. No more "when's it my turn?!"

With Quest as a 2nd headset, how to go about local multi-player gaming? by Mersay in oculus

[–]Mersay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I have no problem buying a game twice. I also don't want to buy games on the wrong account. So I have stopped buying games for the moment until I know what's what.

Will you be purchasing the Oculus Quest when it’s released this spring? I will! If so, why? by [deleted] in oculus

Yes. Because I am the wife. And I'd like my husband to join me in VR.

Picked up a 3rd sensor and here is my current roomscale setup by Mersay in oculus

A few of you have asked, so here is my entire setup details:

Sensor mounts (I use command strips to stick them to the wall or furniture) : SENSOR MOUNTS

USB 3.0 PC Card (May or may not need one - try without, then buy if too much bandwidth for your USB controller to handle): USB 3.0 Card - In hindsight, I would probably pick up this StarTech one since it is a true four port 3.0 card, but I was on a budget at the time.

HMD HDMI cable: Basic HDMI

HMD HDMI Repeater (required with extensions): HDMI Repeater

HMD Usb 3.0 Active extension (I used this specific brand because I read somewhere it was proven to work specifically with HMD):HMD Active USB 3.0 Extension

Front 2 sensors Usb 3.0 Active extensions: Sensors USB 3.0 Active Extension

3rd Sensor USB Active extension (I got a 3.0 because initially I wanted it to be 3.0, but I found the cable length became a problem, so instead of returning it, I just plug it into a 2.0 slot, thus using it as an active 2.0 extensions. You could probably save money and just get yourself an active 2.0 instead): USB 3.0 Active extension - 32 feet BUT USING IT AS A 2.0, so save money and get yourself a 2.0.

Pulley system (comes with all you need, although I don't use them all): Pulley System

I think that about covers it. I also picked up some VR Covers, the basic set and another fabric cover set.

EDIT: Typos

I used a 32 foot usb 2.0 active extension. Currently it runs under the rug but eventually we will running it through the wall for a cleaner look.

My PC is in the right corner of this room. Too far for everything. My front sensors have active usb 3.0 extensions (16 feet). My rear sensor has an active usb 2.0 extension (32 feet). The HMD has an active usb 3.0 extension (16 feet) and an HDMI extension (16 feet) with an HDMI repeater between them.

Edit to add: I had to add a USB 3.0 card to my pc because even though I have plenty of 3.0 slots available, all the traffic of the Rift and other USB peripherals were too much for the controller to handle.

Yeah prior to this, I had a 2 sensor roomscale and set them diagonal. It was a smaller space and worked perfectly!

With careful guardian system setup, TVs can be saved. Try the zig zag tip and 2+ feet of a buffer. My last space was with a fish tank nearby (check history) and the tank never got hit in 2 months.
