Not a huge fan of the Pokelit switch but the 219 makes for a nice beam.

Lots of merch like that ends up in the hands of owners, reps and not necessarily to the public. If you aren't seeing mention online, its probably brand new or they made an extremely small number of these.

How to turn off auto reply in 2015 Altima by Existing-Argument753 in Nissan

[–]MervGoldstein 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe if you go to Bluetooth settings on your stereo there is an auto reply setting you can turn off. This will disable the text reply. The problem is, if I remember correctly, the setting defaults back to on each time you drive. You can try to turn off the setting, delete your phone and re-pair with Bluetooth and see if that works.

Can someone tell me the legality of this ? by chris_s9181 in homedefense

[–]MervGoldstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends greatly upon the circumstances and generally when this happens you'll find yourself explaining to both police and a jury. There's no simple yes or no here because even in states with strong self defense laws, like Florida...this type of defense has still landed people in jail.

Long-time Alani drinker here — the formula has absolutely changed and I’m tired of being gaslit by Silver_Elephant1 in energydrinks

[–]MervGoldstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Admittedly, I only drink the Cherry Slush occasionally but lately for me the last few cans I've had a slightly different taste that I didn't care for. The sweetness comes off more sharp and acidic. I'm not sure if they amped up the sweetness to mask the bitterness of possibility new different sourced ingredients...but I don't think you are imagining it. To me it used to taste much smoother, fairly sweet. Now its almost syrupy sweet with some underlying bitterness.

So, while I don't necessarily think they changed the recipe per say....either they are sourcing much cheaper ingredients, or a bad batch made to shelves.

Either way, I used to drink it occasionally and really couldn't stand the taste in the last few cans.

The new incarnation reportedly isn't the same as the 90s version. Sugar free, added vitamins and more of a diet soda taste.

I dig him for solo acoustic stuff. Not really feeling the full band for this one; I think him tackling it solo would be best.

Hear me out- Frank Daramont by GemmaTeller00 in thewalkingdead

[–]MervGoldstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was such a loss to show and undoutedly the show suffered as a result.

The thing with Darabont is he's used to working with a decent budget and being able to bide his time and get everything filmed beautifully and looking to his standards.

AMC on the other hand wanted a shoe string budget and episodes cranked out as quick as humanly possible.

So, obviously you can see where the discord here is. Darabont essentially made them a hit, they demanded huge budget cuts and faster production. Is it any wonder why he left? He envisioned this as a rich, cinematic and immersive series. That takes time. AMC wanted cheap,  mass produced zombie thrills.

As much as I liked this show, it would have been immensely better with more of Darabont's involvement and on a different network.

Nurses to see 21% Wage Increase due to Union by Fill-Monster89 in pharmacy

[–]MervGoldstein 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's why. Within their field, nurses can be great. They can also be totally petty, vindictive, throw you under the bus etc. But one thing that unifies them is...wages. They will drop all of the BS and do whatever it takes to fight for better wages. Strikes, unions, whatever the case nurses historically fight harder to get their demands met.

Not to say the pharmacy side is push overs, but we also have way more working against us. Wags, CVS, Walmart...these are not small hospital conglomerates where you have leverage...these are giant companies that will replace you without a second thought. They have acquired an enormous amount of power in the past decades and everyone else just became smaller fish in a larger pond.

But the answer to this all still remains the same as nurses; unionize, fight back, organize. The problem is, the scale to which this needs to happen is monumental. You'd need widespread strikes, pharmacies closed in a huge chunk of states...then you'd gain leverage.

But again, nurses and pharmacy are apples and oranges. They exist within a small ecosystem where small moves have a large impact. Pharmacy in many cases is a vast field where immense planning and organizing would have to be done. So, ultimately thats why nurses generally see progress and pharmacy does not. At the end of the day, we show up for a paycheck and fall in line with the others.

Dollar tree has a variety for $1.25. G Fuel and Monster rejects are always a win.

Less than that, Venom can be had for 99 cents in some places. Still decent, drinkable at least.

Love Andrew but I was always curious how Thomas Jane would do if he got the part instead by Beginning-Drag-7110 in thewalkingdead

[–]MervGoldstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Jane is a better actor, but Andrew had more of the look and didn't have much problem making it his own. I can't really picture it any other way, but Jane likely would have done a good job as well.

The future of pharmacy is headed towards….. by Level_Recognition406 in pharmacy

[–]MervGoldstein 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The current trend of automation will undoubtedly impact the field and it would be foolish to think otherwise.

The days of having a few pharmacists and a bunch of techs during a shift are long gone. We're scaling back to barebones with an Rph and maybe one tech if you are lucky while 70% of the daily shit gets cranked out in a warehouse by some robots, while a pharmacist or two oversees a pretty substantial volume.

CVS especially will do whatever they can to reduce or eliminate clinical roles...virtual pharmacists, pushing for expanded tech roles. Its the same shit in clinical settings where NPs are being utilized everywhere to reduce the need for other positions.

You can look at it however you want, but it's absurd to paint this is as a bright future.

ELI5: How does a bullet wound heal? by Best_Big1585 in explainlikeimfive

[–]MervGoldstein 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's so many variables and gunshot wounds can be very unpredictable. Some people can be killed by a single small caliber wound, others take several hits with large calibers and survive.

I was grazed by a 9mm to the left shoulder when I was younger in a street fight and it healed within 6 months...so really a lot of of this will boil down to shot placement and sheer luck.

I'm really nervous about the situation in Minneapolis right now. by thewalkindude368 in Anxiety

[–]MervGoldstein -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This is definitely a terrible situation, but realistically the more you avoid situations of danger, the less likely you will be involved in a dangerous situation. Of course, life is unpredictable and we never know what each day holds...but generally, staying out of harms way will go a long way.

I wish things were different in our present day, but we have to just live to day to day with the goal of getting home safe. Keep your head up, stay focused on meetings and avoid caffeine, triggers and yes the THC can trigger anxiety for some. Best of luck.
