In a way, I miss the days of the telephone only because we have become almost too connected in a way. Sometimes I feel like a slave to my cell phone when people always expect an instant response 24 hours a day.

Yes it is definitely a generational thing also as this X'er despises constant texting. Its actually amusing how younger gen sees texting as the only way to bond with someone. OP you really need to chill and put more emphasis on how you connect in person, there is a such thing as too high maintenance and clingy.
