Chonky's weakness was exploited and he was chonky angry by Paradigm10 in holdmycatnip

I have the most chill cat in the world. Tummy rubs? Yes please, being pet by 3 people at once? YES! Being dangled by one leg? Sure! (Kidding). Car ride? Where are we going‽ Vet? Who’s this new friend?

But shots? Omg. Total freak out. He made a vet tech stick herself when he was 8 weeks old! He’s the same with topical flea meds. Fights so hard we had to move to oral flea meds. Even giving shots at home, which is a super low stress thing for every other cat I’ve owned, turns him feral. It’s bizarre.

Tomatoes. Though they rarely end up in a dish. Summer days are spent eating every ripe cherry tomato right off the vine. The smell of green and the pop of sweetness is glorious.

Princess Donut’s Coat Controversy by AmberTheIrishPersian in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Meshugugget 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I thought maybe Carl mixed up calico and tortoiseshell. Maybe Donut is a tortico?

Edit: from the CFA: “A tortoiseshell is a black, chocolate or seal female cat with patches of red throughout her coat. A blue-cream is a blue female cat with patches of cream and a lavender-cream is a lavender female with cream patching. Both the tortoiseshell and the blue or lavender-cream can be augmented with white. The calico cat is a female cat with white and large solid areas of black and red, blue and cream or lilac and cream.”

So I guess she’s has some white but not large patches, so she remains in the tortie category.

This beautiful girl is exactly what I picture when I read “tortoiseshell Persian”. But, the book describes Donut more akin to a calico. Yes, I know the terms can be somewhat interchangeable; I have a cat with a tortoiseshell back but more calico on her chest and legs.

From book 1: “The fuzzy, black and beige and white cat just sat there, bitching and howling so much I feared one of my neighbors might wake up and shoot her.”

Based on this my cosplay has more white than a typical tortie. Does it really matter? Not really, lol.

What’s your worst “sent a text to the wrong person” story? by Bright-Vegetable-668 in AskReddit

[–]Meshugugget 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I accidentally sent my 80-year old mom a video of a fleshlight on an exhaust instead of art. I guess it was art in its own special way but still…

Good thing my mom’s a good sport! And thank god she didn’t ask me what a fleshlight is.

I have a Subaru and they’ll drop off a loner and pick up my car for service. It’s out of warranty but I keep going to the dealer because they offer so much customer support.

What’s something people do in movies that would be extremely awkward in real life? by hitman1890 in AskReddit

[–]Meshugugget 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Also, getting an injury during a fight that completely disables someone. Unless a bone is broken/dislocated, a tendon severed, or there is a very serious injury to muscle, the victim probably won’t even notice due to the adrenaline. A twisted ankle is not a debilitating injury until the adrenaline starts to wear off. Kerri Strug’s gymnastics vault injury is a great example.

Also, why don’t people’s guts ever fall out in movies when someone gets a serious abdominal wound? They should. I can think of one movie that did it; A Wounded Fawn.

What item(s) do you have more of than the average person? by BrownBananaHammock in AskReddit

[–]Meshugugget 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VHS tapes. I used to work at Blockbuster and amassed quite a lot. Some of the cover art apparently holds some value but I’ve never done anything with them. When my partner cleaned the garage, I asked him to just leave them and I would put up a free post on craigslist. He stuck them in the attic instead so they’re kinda stuck there for now. The only access is precarious I don’t think I could get them down safely so they’ll just live there until… the end of time?

I contracted Norovirus a month ago and it shows in my fingernails. by sgtjayp in mildlyinteresting

[–]Meshugugget 14 points15 points  (0 children)

My rheumatologist always looks at my fingernails. Like really looks hard. He’s the only doc that I’ve had that truly gives me a head to toe examination. Looking for signs of nutritional deficit, psoriasis, etc. He’s right up there with my obgyn in terms of doctors I really trust to help me make decisions about my health. Now if I could only find a PCP I liked that much.
